Wonderful place! Gaja, the owner, was super helpful and welcoming. Excellent breakfast, 6- course top notch dinner menu, great wines. Visiting this place is a must when touring Alps to Adriatics bike route in Slovenia!

The place is lovely and located near the castle. There are clear instructions how to get inside. The rooms are beautifully decorated with big bathroom and decent short. The host is very helpful. I left my rings inside the room and she posted them. We received home made wine to try as a gift. Thats very kind, we're going to come again

If you're in Kras — and you definitely should be if you're a fan of wine and ancient cities — stay at Vina Kobal and book a tasting. There are two apartments here — brand new, spotless, with everything you need inside. And a bottle of Teran in the fridge. With a terrace offering a beautiful view. And after the tasting, you won't need to go anywhere :) Even without the tasting, you can hang out there for a couple of days - walking in Stagnel and through the vineyards. And the sea is a 40-minute drive away. But who needs the sea when wine flows like a river? A few words about the tasting. Eight wines and a huge plate of delicious homemade appetizers for 30 euros. You might say that can't be true, the wines must be rubbish. But it is true! And every wine is wonderful, so full of flavor and life! Ivo, thank you for your high level of hospitality! Tina, thank you for the tasting, you made us happy!

Very great people are working in this place. Helped with all questions, were kind during the stay and special thanks to wonderful woman who prepared the breakfast and provided some special bonus :) Good parking place near the entrance, place is near the highway, so easy to get to any place.

the property was in a very quite and nice area, the building was recently renewed and the room was clean, cozy and comfortable. the shower was big. it was very easy to reach and there was parking place! The owner is an incredibly nice guy, who tries his best to make you comfortable and to be fun, keeping up the conversation with good jokes (also he speaks english quite well). with an extremly small extra you can get breakfast whenever he’s available in the morning! A quite awesome breakfast, extremely satisfying and tasty (i think that the extra he asked is less than the cost of the raw materials themselves!). Seriously, if visiting the area (like Trieste, its easily reachable by car!), this is the place where to sleep!

The town itself is very quiet and perfect for riding bikes...

The town itself is very quiet and perfect for riding bikes around the wineries. The eating out locations are limited but we managed to.secure an outside table at the castle, which was lovely. Get an E bike. We used a local firm called DIM bikes who delivered the bikes and picked them up. Don't forget to ask for a phone holder to navigate.

Our stay at Blackbird House in Stanjel was beyond amazing...

Our stay at Blackbird House in Stanjel was beyond amazing and the village helped greatly with that. The peace and friendliness of almost everyone made us feel like we had stepped back in time. We spent days wandering the village, looking in shops, relaxing in the Ferrari gardens and felt at peace... other than when we went to the Bistro Grad Stanjel! The service went from aloof to downright rude! Stay away from the this place but the rest of Stanjel is lovely!

We found a cheap and nice snack bar and a great restaurant, as well as a super mini market that opens early, the staff in each place was excellent and friendly. Stanjel is fantastic not only for the scenery, but also for the people. We would like to go back, it was wonderful.

Beautiful view from the summit overlooking the old town.

Beautiful view from the summit overlooking the old town. The ramparts are impressive. The historic gates are well preserved. The village is inhabited and very peaceful. The castle courtyard is an ideal place to have a drink or a meal and sample the excellent local wines.

I was only there to take a walk around and have dinner at a restaurant next to the church, in a kind of enclosure. The town is very picturesque and the restaurant is good without being excellent.

Only one restaurant… full. Only one bistro: closed.

Only one restaurant… full. Only one bistro: closed. No shops… Luckily, a local drove us to an acquaintance who sold us a piece of bread, a few slices of ham, and a bottle of wine! Otherwise… a night on an empty stomach after 300 km on the motorcycle!
