Kata is a lovely beach There are some expensive hotels that are directly fronting the beach and so their staff clean the beach each day. Beach chairs are available but not so many that they cannot be avoided if you just want to walk on the beach. At the time of year I was there the main activity was surfing at the southern end with many people taking lessons. It's a long beach, not too crowded, and quite clean.
It's a long beach, not too crowded, and quite clean. You can get a 2 chairs under the umbrella for 100 THB for the whole day, they even give you a hand broom to brush off the sand and a bottle of water. The staff are all friendly and helpful when our tour transfers were running late to find out where they were. Great views from one side of the building. Is very close to the main kata beach but being up the hill it means at night you can't hear all the noise from the bars etc. Second room we stayed in for last night was nicer with a lovely view.
