Love the coastal areas & the variety of beaches in Mae Nam as well as the differing local food cultures. I especially liked the relaxed beach at Baan Fah Resort where the water was deep enough to swim just a short distance from the shore - a truly great beach. The best coffee house in Samui has to be Hachiya Coffee Roastery. And I highly recommend G- Bike Rentals.Guest review byAlanNew Zealand - 8.0

Depending on where you stay you may need a scooter to get around or taxi's. Which are reasonably priced. With the heat and UV we found walking nearby was a chore at certain times of the day. Once we hired the scooter we could explore the whole island. Its great if most of your trip is for swimming and relaxing around the pool. As with most of the island it really doesn't get going until later in the afternoon. Its also cooler. Markets are great to visit. Restaurants and bars are excellent and service as well. Mae Nam doesn’t have the best beach, and is a busy area. We have been to several areas of Thailand, and we found Koh Samui in general to be very busy and not that well maintained considering it is such a popular tourist island. There is no doubt that Fisherman’s Village is a very popular town, but it is very touristy and lacks the relaxed Thai experience that we are looking for.Guest review byJuliaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

West part of the beach, where was our hotel, was too much constructed. When the tide is high, you can't walk on the beach (as the hotels are built too close) and can't go from one hotel to another one as they have walls separating each hotels. Meaning you are basically trapped in your hotel and can go somewhere only through vehicle roads. Very impractical beach walks.Guest review byDFrance

The bed was ok. We only stayed 1 night but paid for 2 so we could keep the room until late before checking out to head to the airport. We walked along beach front (turn right) and up to W Koh Samui which had a beach grill. Food was delicious. The staff were great and arranged for a boat and then a truck to give lifts through the floods.
