It was not as busy as some of the other resorts. We were able to relax and enjoy the quietness, but could also enjoy the warm swimming pool and amazing views. The food was great. I would recommend booking all inclusive or full board.

The hotel is beautifully located, cozy, intimate - for those who like their peace and quiet, not a mass-tourist approach, like many other hotels in Zanzibar. It's definitely a place with a soul and one-of-a-kind. :) Laura, the owner, is very helpful and provided us with a lot of recommendations on what to see and do in Zanzibar. The breakfast in the restaurant was plenty - fresh fruit, local donuts, freshly squeezed juice, great coffee, tea, plus menu a la carte - I recommend avocado toast, also pancakes were delicious, sausages, eggs... You name it. Every day we tried something different :) Generally, the restaurant and food in Poa Poa have always been totally delicious!! We ate lunch and dinner there (accommodation includes just breakfast) because the menu is rich, and they have an excellent chef that we've met, compliments :) As for their food quality and menu, the price is very, very good, cheap even. We've tried other restaurants in Kiwengwa and Poa Poa has been our number one choice. Plus we've always been treated so nicely (great service). Generally, the staff is very nice and helpful, especially waiters. We really enjoyed the live music evening :))) Sadly, we've managed to see just one (but was so much fun! Also special Swahili food, so you could really get the feel of Zanzibar!), but apparently they do live music twice a week (we've been there for just 3 days). You can also get a massage in the hotel, and they offer different kinds. Generally, we've been really happy with the place and would recommend it for people looking for an intimate romantic getaway or a family holiday with great food, location, clean beach, and ocean views. Authentic place!

"Where travelers meet their ultimate experience" What I, my family, and friends loved the most about Marafiki was the hospitality. It was absolutely more than what we expected. The establishment is located right on the beachfront with an incredible view as you gaze from the bar over the pool with a cocktail in your hand. The rooms were clean and stylish, decorated with island-style fixtures,- charming and refreshing. At night you can hear the lemurs and if you are lucky even spot one. Many days were spent beside the pool with music softly in the background, you ooze into your beach chair as the sun gently strokes over your skin. It's monsoon season during the month of April and some would say not the best season to visit, but I disagree. It's actually the best time with not many tourists and you experience more scenery, culture, and food. Marafiki Bungalows provides a great setup,- catering for couples, friends, and families. With a menu for every day and an exciting lineup with live music and entertainment, we had no choice, but to stay in and be part of the fun. We had our children with us, and they couldn't get enough of the pool( baby pool too), and also the toys Marafiki provides that helped a lot. The resort also provides kayak boats, life jackets, and water shoes for exploring alongside the beach. My brother-in-law proposed in the spa which overlooks the ocean with small sea shells that hang from the arch, and to top things off, -we had our friend's wedding at Marafiki! Lanterns, shells, and little stones create a pathway to the altar. Just imagine it...These special events were made all possible by the incredible staff, Ester, Michal, and Justina. And let's not forget the rest of the team. The kitchen, the gardeners that cheerfully greet you every morning" Jambo!" The waiters and a special thank you to Sunshine- Who keeps smiling. A huge thank you to everyone at Marafiki Bungalows! Asante sana. May the magic continues!

The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful during my stay, the facilities were excellent the gym and spa especially so. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with a beautiful sea view to be woken to. The breakfast buffet had great variety and was amazing to have next to the ocean breeze that wakes you right up from any exhaustion. The beach with its white soft sand is to die for, I will be visiting again with my family next time.

Very cozy little hotel , very close to Kivengwa Beach. Beach was really nice and beautiful . Have seen something like this only on pictures before - it was like being in small paradise . It's also a nice, quiet spot surrounded by greenery. Our room was simple but comfortable. All is new and room was very very clean!!! Meanwhile, I really like the staff, it was very nice as well. Would recommend for travelers looking for a simple, eco-friendly and affordable option close to the beach for sure!

Lovely and helpful staff. Great food, huge breakfast, restaurant with dinner - super, fish for dinner very tasty, everything fresh!! Nice pool, nice neigbourhood. Close to the beach, 5 min. walking distance. Big room with AC, fridge, hot water. Wifi was ok. We recommend it!!

Kiwengwa is an amazing place , only annoying this is the amount of African people that hassle you on the beach - men dressed as masi that are not from the the masi Maru tribe ( pretending they are ) and annoying you when you trying to enjoy a peaceful walk it is over bearing and no one wants that on their holiday - was most beaches in Zanzibar !!

Our stay was amazing and peaceful.

Our stay was amazing and peaceful. The staff was funny and very friendly. Big thanks to Jana and her staff, Lameck in the restaurant section and Janet in housekeeping was so sweet and they looked after us at our 8-night stay. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Lovely beach on the Indian Ocean.

Lovely beach on the Indian Ocean. Lots of restaurants, bars and snack shops from higher end and usual fare to local pubs and dining. Beautiful views, jet ski, kite surfing and dhow or outrigger hires for snorkeling. beautiful clear water and you can walk the sandbars at low tide or swim there at high tide. An hour or so from Stone Town hustle and bustle, but still close enough for a day excursion.

The beach is arguably one of the best on the island—long, swimmable, and vibrant. While it has more energy and amenities than a secluded spot, we still found it peaceful and relaxing, especially during the mornings. It's the perfect base for anyone who wants both stunning beach life and easy access to restaurants and activities.

Kiwengwa is a perfect place to spend time with the family. Exquisit nature, kind people and the best food. Boat trips, beach activities, village strolls, getting to know the culture of local people who are very knowlegeable about the natural agriculture and extreemly kind and nice. We loved every minute of our stay at Kiwengwa.

Paradise.

Paradise. Very long and large beach, friendly local people, very calm and quite place. We loved it. Its very save even in the nightwalks on the beach. There are some restaurants, coffee places where you can drink fresh, cocktails or snacks.

Our 3 night stay in white dream was perfect. It is a small intimate hotel, beautifully designed and the staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. The pool is a big plus as the tide is sometimes capricious. Restaurant was very good and the menu offered various choices, we ended up having all of our meals there. We were not sure about staying in kiwengwa because the beaches are not as dreamy as in Nungwi or Paje but we did not regret for a second our stay in this peaceful haven.

Very friendly host who makes sure you have a great experience. The house is right on the beach with your own private sun beds to lay on. If you are looking for a peaceful beach vacation in Zanzibar on budget, this is your place. There are some good restaurants near by, especially the White Dream restaurant, which serves the best authentic Italian food.

The location and the view of the hotel was amazing. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The rooms get cleaned everyday. They organize great tours that you can partake in. We would love to stay here again when we come back to Zanzibar :)

Beautiful Resort on one of the best beaches in Zanzibar. Phillipo is a great manager, welcomed us, upgraded our rooms for us and offered us all inclusive for an additional fee which we accepted.
