We lived in 9 different hotels in 18 days, and this was our define favorite. At first our room were upgraded at arrival, and told us that our departure day, we could keep the room for free all day, as we had a late flight. The staff was so sweet, they helped and served us all we needed, but in a too much way. The hotel is the coziest place where you feel welcome and home. There is activities every day, but still very quiet, which we found perfect. And finally, the food was so nice. And there was cold water to fill all day.

I feel like , as a traveling solo , it was the best choice to stay in Salama. María recommend me to Mona, who was my guide during the all trip . You can easily arrange dolphin watching and swimming tours – look for Captain Lucho, he helped us with everything and made the experience amazing. A beautiful and relaxing place to stay!

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it. We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip. Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough. The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 . We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe. There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner. Not too far from stone town.

Matemwe beach was huge and totally uncrowded - some days we were lucky to see 10 - 20 people pass by! Loved the Massai beach hawkers - friendly and laid back happy to have their pictures taken - no hassle or relentless chasing - once told 'no' they respected our space. Recommend a day trip to Nungwi for a completely different vibe and fantastic sunset. Matemwe is somewhat isolated and if you want to get around you need to secure the number of a local taxi driver - always bargain hard beforehand. Most hotels organise trips/tours but at a premium.

It was a quieter beach which was nice which also meant not too many people hassling you to buy things. Those that did were respectful. Beach is nice but the sea depth is very shallow most of the day so swimming wasn't the easiest and there was a lot of seaweed when we were there.

The beach of Matemwe is one of the best beaches. The location of this hotel is top. The room is big, comfortable and has a nice terrace. The beach beds near the pool are comfortable and next to the beach. The breakfast is very good and filling. The staff is very friendly. The manager is super friendly, helpful, professional and efficient and goes the extra mile to keep the clients satisfied.

The hotel is placed at a chilled, remote part of Matemwe, which was absolutly perfect for kit stay. The rooms are as intimate as the whole beach and the hotel. The service is wonderful, hotel staff is lovely and the food is tasty. Everything is clean and comfy:)
