Location was central to the town we visited. Breakfast was self service but varied and of a good quality for that expected. Our room was huge, very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. (We had 2 queen beds). Great as it was just the standard room that we booked.

The room was very comfortable, it had everything you needed. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was good. The hotel is located next to Helen, so, you can walk there, and in front of the hotel is the Georgia Mountain Coaster, so you have a good attraction there for you to have fun.

Most of all the woman at the front desk truly made my nye happen. I initially booked through priceline and upon arrival realized the room wasn't near the location I was hoping for. Considering I was traveling by myself, the lady (I wish I could remember her name) made an adjustment to my accommodations placing me facing the river and freeing up the extra bed for a larger number or trailers. I was beyond thrilled when I looked out the window and saw the Chattahoochee river flowing by.

It was our wedding anniversary so the room was perfect for our 1 night stay. Lovely big room and appreciated the spa bath. .So very relaxing. A great balcony with a wonderful view over Helen. An easy walk into Helen. Breakfast was amazing in the lovely dining room of the property and the cook was so welcoming and happy to help.So well catered for in every way. Snacks and drinks and bags of ice available from the kitchen up to 9pm to take away. Very peaceful and relaxing to stay. The gentleman who owns the property was just so helpful with information of things to do in and around Helen.Staff were wonderful.

    Relaxing getaway.

    Relaxing getaway. One full day with one overnight is sufficient unless you plan activities outside of town. Locals welcoming. Very dog friendly. Hofbrauhaus Restaurant soso. Betty's is an establishment not to miss. Check out Moon Stay and Play if you need dog boarding. Very accommodating.

    If you have kids or are adventurous, river tubing is...

    If you have kids or are adventurous, river tubing is available. We had lunch watching people mosey down the water. There are so many shops that can be explored, specialty fudge, cheeses, toys, blown glass, and on and on. There is minerature golf course, and camping areas too. Many places are pet friendly as well. It has a German based theme, and from what we heard, Ocktoberfest is a sell out for accommodations.

    Much smaller than anticipated.

    Much smaller than anticipated. If you have ever been to Frankenmuth Michigan, this does not compare. Helen is small, old and only activity within to separate itself is the river tubing. We arrived thrusday afternoon for check in and everything was closed for the night by 7pm. One day in Helen as a pit stop on your way home or to your destination is all thats needed.

    I have been going to Helen for 55+years and it has really gone down. The whole town is dirty and the shops are all the same. There used to be artist and skilled craftsman and now it is t-shirts and shot glasses. Without the tubing the town would die. There no longer appears to be any pride in their town.

    Alpine Helen, Georgia is a precious little town, very similar to Gatlinburg on a smaller scale. There were so many things to do. My only suggestion is for the city to have a walking map of downtown shops and restaurants. As an older couple walking in the heat, I am sure we missed quite a bit. With a map we would’ve been able to find some of the shops we were interested in more easily.

    My husband is retired military.

    My husband is retired military. We have spent a total of ten years in Germany. To celebrate our 50th anniversary there with long time friends and family who were also stationed in Germany with us, it was a marvelous time of remembrance. The Bodensee Restaurant went over and above to make our anniversary special. The chef. staff and food were outstanding. I could close my eyes and dream of days gone by. I highly recommend this restaurant. We stayed in The Charming Downtown Helen Gateway. It was right in the heart of the town. Everything was walking distance. Great place and dog friendly. Every shop keeper was happy to tell about their products. Very friendly!! And most shops are dog friendly. Tubing for younger folks was a blast to watch. My grandson loved the axe throwing place. Truly a great time! I know we will be back!
