The location of the Comfort Inn New River is great.

The location of the Comfort Inn New River is great. The employees were pleasant. The room had roaches. Manager refused to do anything but offer 15% off a future stay there, though she said bugs were unusual there, she didn't seem either shocked by it or care about it. Sleeping a bed with even one roach crawling on it is not acceptable. The shower floor was grimy as well. Oak Hill is great, just not the Comfort Inn.

Oak Hill is a great area to stay to visit the new river area, I would not recommend this hotel. It was terrible. Be sure to take a trip down to the bottom of the river where the boats come in under the bridge .

Room was dingy and small and didn’t match photos.

Room was dingy and small and didn’t match photos. Nasty brown carpet and brown bedspreads with white stains. Dirty carpet. Pizza crust on floor. Chose this place for the pool but the pool was locked with a padlock. Lots of cigarette butts on the ground where you walk in. Fairly dismal place with no pool even though pool is advertised!

New River Gorge is a nice National park.

New River Gorge is a nice National park. Unlike other National parks, there is not a typical entrance and road through the park. The "entrances" are regular state roads that drive around and through the park. There are some drivable points of interest and views. Worth it! Don't eat at El Rio. It's one of the only restaurants open late but it's not good at all. Opt for fast food or kroger if you roll into town late and then eat somewhere else the next day. Grandview Point at the park is worth the drive. Sandstone falls is also gorgeous and you can walk the boardwalk even if you are not a hiker or fit at all. Totally worth it and it's handicapped accessible.

The Town of Oak Hill is economically depressed, and the strip mall along Route 19 where the Comfort Inn is partially developed, with a number of empty stores. There is a decent Mexican restaurant in this adjacent mall. While the town of Oak Ridge itself seems somewhat sketchy, the Comfort Inn area appeared safe. It is convenient to Fayetteville and the New River Gorge.

    Room 122 was disgusting!

Room 122 was disgusting! Shower curtain & comforters were dirty, faded, stained (multiple places on both comforters) & should be replaced. Sheets had been laundered but we’re stained. Carpet had wet spots (pet ?) WiFi never connected, front desk claimed a “password wasn’t needed”. The A/C started to work then quit about midnight. Room was very hot & uncomfortable. Breakfast was gone at 9:15am. I can’t believe we had to pay to stay in the worst room I’ve ever booked with Booking.com. After this trip I have learned “Booking.com” 3 star hotels are actually a “2star” at best. Genius rate does nothing!
