Yuma is an agricultural desert town.
Yuma is an agricultural desert town. It is old and has some historical sites to see. But, from my perspective, it is a bedroom community to Los Algodones, Baja, Mexico. So drive 10 minutes to the Indian Casino parking and walk across the border. It's more fun and profitable to stay and eat at some great restaurants in Yuma, while spending days across the border in Mexico doing touristy stuff, talking with people, and enjoying the best medical tourism. Get teeth done, glasses, massages, aesthetic surgery and treatments, street tacos, pharmacy, souvenirs (You can afford it all!). The people there are great and there to serve you. Talk to them. Yuma is great for a one or two night stay to learn about the history of the western United States. I've lived in Southern California since the 1960s and didn't understand until my visit to Yuma how important its location was for trade and travel for hundreds of years. The riverfront walkway/park and Territorial Prison have great explanatory signs about the indigenous Quechuan people, and the explorers and settlers who came later. I stayed for one night. Yuma is very hot in the summer, but, it is a great place to...
Yuma is very hot in the summer, but, it is a great place to stay during the winter months and has a lot of places to eat out. They have a lot of shopping stores to get what ever you desire. If you need to get medical prescriptions or just medicine in general it is close to the Mexican border and you can go across the boarder and get it much cheaper. Never a problem bring it back across the boarder. You can even go across the boarder with just the new updated driver's license, the one with the security star in the upper corner, if you don't happen to have a passport. Los Algodones is an interesting little Mexican town that has a number of Specialty Dentist offices and other professional businesses that seem to provide quality workmanship. That includes dental implants. Dental implants seem to run between $1,500 to $2,400 a piece depending where you go. This hotel is middle of the road, continental breakfast was meager, staff was nice but didn't replenish soap daily had to ask for that and towels as we needed them. We lived in Yuma for 24 plus years and this was a return trip. It has much to offer locals and visitors. Arizona Donuts and Mostly Muffins are places to check out for goodies.
