Hotel is conveniently located in the old quarter close to many points of attraction and eateries. Service and staff are outstanding! Hotel is newly build in 2024, very clean and cosy. Rooms are not very spacious and the selection of breakfast menu is limited but it is fair according to the price. Ella and the staff spoke great English and really helped us, a tyfoon ripped apart the south which meant da nang airport closed so our entire holiday plan was then ruined/ cancelled, but being stuck in Hanoi for 5 days Ella provided us accommodation and made use of our time with a great tour to ha long bay, for the prices around this hotel is defiantly worth it at what it’s priced at compared to others, think we paid £27 for first night then £31ish for each other but easily worth it for aircon and good service, left our bags here to to go and do the loop up north on the bikes

The area of Hanoi that most visitors experience is the Old/French quarters and it is everything you expect: a heady mix of chaos/hustle/culture and inequality. The first time we visited Hanoi we didn't really get it, the second time we loved it. I highly recommend venturing out into some of 'suburbs' where you get more of a feel for how the city's residents live day to day. Get a Grab (Uber equivalent) to a random part of the city and explore! One other thing - make the effort to get up early (5:30am) one day and go walkabout to see how the Vietnamese start their day before all the tourists wake up.

The city is a chaos!

The city is a chaos! I recommend to only stay in the city one day or less and plan out to be away for actual sightseeing like Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay, Sapa… If you are spending a day or half a day in the city, use it to go for a spa - the best thing you can get out of the city!

Hanoi is a beautiful and historic, heroic city. I love this city so much, nice streets with huge trees and delicious foods!!! The best time to travel to me as End of November to February, cool weather and fantastic to walking under the shades of trees, taking coffee or Hanoi' foods. SO Lovely!

We were only there for a short time.

We were only there for a short time. Perhaps wouldn't recommend staying in the Old Quarter with small children as there is little to no room on footpaths as you have to negotiate around motor bike parking and frantically busy chaotic roads. Definitely don't take a stroller or pram. As vegetarians and vegans, do your research as there are quite a few suitable places if you can find them. West Hanoi seemed a better option for kids, with indoor playground facilities and wider open spaces and more regular shopping than the market type stalls in the Old Quarter.

I work as Reservation Manager at a 5 star resort in Bali and as a hotelier itself I could say that this place is truly exceptional. If you have never been to Vietnam yet, it would be best for you to come here first as the owner will happily give you a lot of helpful information and recommendations, also the transportation rate that he offers is cheaper than online transport there. The location is great as you can reach many popular places by walk, just ask the owner for directions and some 'hidden gems' as well in the Old Quarter.

Also the food and drinks are amazing, and the breakfast is the best in town! I’ve booked Meritel Hotel twice during my journey in Vietnam, so I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a cozy place to stay in Hanoi.

Nice hotel in the centre of the old quarter. Attentive service, spacious room and fantastic bathroom which is a luxury in Hanoi from what we heard. The bed linen was so soft and luxurious and the pillows were so comfy. Probably the best we have experienced in Vietnam so far! The Breakfast on the roof was very nice. We didn’t stay long enough to thoroughly review but would recommend.

Lovely hotel in the old quarter close to the lake. The family room was spacious, clean and sound proofed. Staff were kind, courteous and always willing to assist. It’s not a 5 star property however, definitely the best 3 star we stayed at in Vietnam. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and would return again.
