The beautiful room and proximity to nature. The whole site is stunning. Food was very good - room mini bar very generous. We loved the private plunge pool to cool off and the choice of bath or outside shower. The guides are very knowledgeable but the drives are at different times from other places we’ve stayed - afternoon departs at 3 pm so ensure you’re there in plenty of time.

Where to start… This safari was everything you want. Our guides were amazing (big shoutout to Johan and Liam) they were so happy, enthustiastic and very knowledgeable. They really care about making it a special event for you and they care deeply about the animals and protecting their enviroment. The accomondation are big tents with a big bed, toilet, shower and our own jacuzzii! The jaccuzzi is located beneath an open sky and i have never seen more stars then i did here. Truly amazing. Food was great, the safari area great, we spotted the big five but they were so much more animals to see. I really loved all the warthogs for example. If you want a real rural (but still luxorious) safari experience, Amakhala 1920s safari is what you should book.

You will be sure to have a magnificent stay here. Extremely comfortable and very private. Very nice staff and, especially, a highly skilled game driver named Lubela who managed to make every game drive better than the previous. But also a very ”family atmosphere” in the lodge. All meals and drinks are included with nice food served every day. Induli lodge was opened in 2024 and is nicely renovated/decorated with many attention to details. Matt, the owner was very attentive and fulfilled your requests for any specific liquor etc. that you felt was missing.

I believe there are around eight lodges working Amakhala and it doesn't seem congested but seems just the right size. The amount of different animals to be seen no congestion of game run trucks is great

The staff at Amakhala were very friendly and helpful.

The staff at Amakhala were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. the room was large and when you came back after the second safari they had turned the lights on. folded down the beds and put the heating on. That is a really great touch from the staff. The Park Rangers were very good. We had Jessie and he was very informative and had a great sense of humour. He really did his best to find the animals we all wanted to see and made it a special experience.

Amakhala Game Reserve is a haven for wild animals and a brilliant place for a safari. Many of the animals used to roam the land 100 years ago before the land was used for farming. In the early 2000's the land was returned to its natural habitat and the animals reintroduced, with the aim of conservation and breeding of endangered species. As it is in a malaria-free area, it is the perfect location for a safari for people who get bitten by mozzies! There were only a few jeeps out on drives at any time, so you rarely come across other people. There are several lodges in the reserve to choose as your base (we stayed at Safari Lodge, which was brilliant).

The whole experience was amazing.

The whole experience was amazing. Difficult to put into words. Spectacular views from the lodge, very knowledgeable and professional rangers, great food, extremely friendly atmosphere, very thoughtful touches (like running a bubble bath on return from game drive), wonderful decor.

Beautiful place, well managed where the staff have massive respect for the animals and care for them, from a respectful distance. Not too many people out on the drives at once which is good as some reserves can get quite crowded - shows good management. Saw all the animals we could have hoped for and got to witness some amazing things, from a close but safe distance. Amazing. Relatively easy to get to too. It is a dirt road leading up to the lodge but easy to navigate even in a very small car which is what we had. Great experience.

A beautiful and well managed reserve.

A beautiful and well managed reserve. The landscape and different biomes are interesting to see and the wildlife are abundant. It is not crowded and made us like we where to only people there. Its clear to see that are leaders in conservation management and community engagement.
