Wonderful, friendly, Karoo hospitality. Small boutique hotel in a small town in the Little Karoo. Fabulous food. Ostrich steaks. Selection of local wines and artisinal beers. Classic Movie nights. Showers and baths with lots of hot water. Good cooked breakfast. The decor is original from the time when the hotel was opened in 1950's. There are many art works by local artists. Location. We had a wonderful stay at Kath's. The cottage for guests was very clean and warmly decorated with stunning views. The pool is like in the pictures, an idyll. A highlight was definitely the food including homemade pizza and all home grown. We did the Cross Cape Route including the Swartberg Pass by bicycle for which the accommodation was well located on the way.

We had the most fantastic stay at meijers rust! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The communication was easy and Barry had the warmest welcome for us on arrival! Would recommend to anyone travelling this way. The rooms were exceptionally clean and had everything you could possibly need. Beautiful spot. We will be back in the future, thank you again for everything :)

    We spent a night at the farm and had a very restful time. Beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Lovely accomodation with everything you need on hand. The host was very helpful and I would highly recommend a stay over here.

    The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay.

    The cottage is perfect for a short or long stay. There is a large back patio with built-in braai, protected from the water and a front stoep to soak in the beautiful views. The bathrooms are really spacious with large walk in showers. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. There is no TV but fast wifi so streaming from your phone is easy.

    It is a very quaint and tranquil little town bout 30 km from Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape. There is an ample amount of restaurants and wine shops and a few souvenir shops. Spending a full day to experience the real charm of the little village. While there take a short drive into Meiringspoort and discover CJ Langenhovens carved stone with the inscription Herry, which was the name of his imaginary elephant or travel up to the waterfall, all a mere 10 or 12 kim from De Rust.

    De Rust is a beautiful, picturesque town and good for your mental health to get away and re-charge. The eatery/shop in De Rust, called Pluim/ Frieda Schoeman is highly recommended. Well worth a visit

    De Rust is a small rustic town ideal for an overnight stop enroute somewhere else. Everything is within walking distance. The town is spotlessly clean, people are very friendly and helpful. It is surrounded by magnificent mountains and very close to the must see Meirings Poort. Lovely coffee shops for breakfast and lunch with one restaurant open for dinner.

    A small town surrounded by the great outdoors.

    A small town surrounded by the great outdoors. Close to Meiringspoort and the waterfall. A great stopover for coffee or a meal or to get well basic necessities if you stay in the area. The Domein Doornkraal padstal is an absolute must on the way to Oudtshoorn. Stay at Aardts cabin if you staying over in the area.

    Amazing location and lovely finishes inside, the soundproofing is great between the Chalets. The mountains are breathtaking, felt safe and secure and wished we stayed longer. We had our 2 dogs with us and were able to explore the beautiful farm, big bonus. Very close to Meiringspoort Waterfall and the town De Rust. The Owner is friendly and there is wood available to purchase.

    WE liked the fact that we were the only people on the property. We had the whole house to ourselves. The house is properly equipped with all the amenities that you need to have a pleasurable stay. The property is well situated giving you access to the whole of De rust. The host, Karen, went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and sorted.

    De Rust has authentic old houses lining the main street throughout town. Mountains as backdrop complete the picture. The reception at Irissa Sanctuary was warm. I felt right at home. Karen is an excellent host! Make sure you have enough time to enjoy the unreal Meyerspoort.
