Norther Portugal is remarkable with so much to see and do, but sometimes just taking time to relax and enjoy the tranquility can be exactly what you need.
This centuries old farmhouse just a few kilometers from the city of Guarda is a chance to get away from the stress of travel.
The host met us on arrival and showed us in to this renovated and adapted farmhouse.
Nice large rooms and bathrooms, a communal living room and dining area, and seating outside in the courtyard, all clean and tidy with centuries of history to explore. We honestly felt at home away from home, and chose to spend our time relaxing and wondering the fields around the farmhouse, rather than dashing off to see more of the country.
I have to mention breakfast because it was fantastic, with everything grown or produced on the farm, other than the cheese which came from the neighbors.
We will definitely be revisiting and taking more time to explore the area, with the farmhouse as somewhere to recharge with the welcoming and knowledgeable owners. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

The breakfast was exceptionally made and the food varied from day to day which made each morning a little surprise! The staff was very forthcoming and friendly - the cook would always chat with us in the morning and even the owners passed by to introduce themselves. Everything was very personal and you could see and feel the love that is being poured into this hotel!

Absolutely amazing views as you drive onto the wine farm. The views of the Douro River from the swimming pool were magnificent. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. Dinner and breakfast was outstanding and the setting was just spectacular. We enjoyed a morning walk through the vineyards. There are plenty of hiking options available. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back.

The service was excellent. It was a very comfortable and relaxing stay. The room was clean, and the mattress and linen were both of good quality. We loved the balcony which you could stay there enjoying the stunning view of the river with a glass of wine or port.
