Great location with very friendly and helpful hosts/staff. Comfortable and quiet room. Excellent breakfast and dinner enjoyed during our 2 night stay. Visited Rabat via boat and tram as per Jan's suggestion - great idea. Enjoyed wandering around the medina both in Rabat and Sale. Would happily revisit and thoroughly recommend.

The breakfast was great! A very good and tasteful selection. The staff people were very helpful and gave us very useful information. We even did not ask - they knew in advance what we needed and provided crucial tips.

In the heart of the ancient walled city of Salé, this historic riad has great views of Rabat and Kasbah Oudayas. Enjoy the sunset from the rooftop garden and lounge area. The rooms are beautiful, and the owner is very hospitable. I strongly recommend eating in at night at least once; the food is stellar! You won't regret it. And make time for a good Moroccan breakfast, too. A La Belle Étoile is centrally located, and easy to get to by taxi from Rabat Airport (use the small yellow taxis) or from Salé Train Station. The little shopping streets of Salé and the market, the beach with its fish market, and the Bouregreg Marina are all in easy walking distance, as is the tram into the central Rabat. You will find plenty to enjoy. I' prefervthis location to Rabat across the water. I'm definitely coming back.

Well, let s go step by step. The location and cost benefit are very good for the SALÉ medina, not to Rabat (if you are by car, that's fine). There is easy parking spot on the street and private one pretty close. Even been inside the medina, the Riad is very close to a main road able for cars and you can park to load and unload. The place is very beatutiful, nice breakfast, beautiful furniture and decoration. Good to point out that there's no lift and a bit of stairs. For overall about the phisycal structure would be a 9, but what makes this place deserve a 10 is not a thing, but an angel fallen on Earth called Amina! She is the one who cares about the place and do everything for you. She speaks barelly nothing of english or spanish (speaks arabic and french), but she speaks with her heart. She is a giant. She waited for us until 2 AM to welcome us and open the door, helped us to find a parking and then unload the car under TORRENTIAL rain, and just left because I told her to do so and I could manage that myself to take her out of the rain. She helped booking guides To Rabat and Salé (recommend both, Magi and Mohammed), cooked, cleaned and ALWAYS caring of us and welcoming with a huge smile and sweetness. She is definetely one of the best things I wiil take from Salé/Rabat and even Morocco. If you wanna try, give it a shot and I hope you guys can have the same experience we had. Ps.: She did not ask us to do a review at Bookings at any time. We are doing with the same heart she had with us all!

The Riad is a charming mix of modern-zen and classic Moroccan interior design, done with very good taste. Behind the door, in an alley of the busy Medina, a vision of serenity and refined elegance opens up: the first courtyard is occupied by a pool (whose bright blue contrasts with the white washed walls) and in which banana trees, palms and yuccas of the hanging garden are reflected. Behind, an annex belonging to a 14th century riad , carefully restored , displays a glorious courtyard, richly decorated with traditional elements (Moorish arches, zellige, fountain); everywhere beautifully carved windows and doors, that open into the rooms (not large, but furnished in a refreshing modern style, with a few touches of local craftsmanship) and meticulously chosen details, as the modern paintings in the common areas. Some rooms (like ours, Pasha) offer spectacular views on the hanging garden and the pool, and the whole Riad becomes particularly suggestive in the evening, when the lights are turned on. Breakfast and dinner (on request) are served in the hall facing the swimming pool, and they are both exquisite - the white cheese and black olive tapenade are delicious- The icing on the cake is the fantastic staff: from the receptionists to the cook to the waiters to the cleaning ladies, everyone is efficient and kind, meeting the needs of the guests always with a smile. We have made three trips in Morocco, done long itineraries and stopped in many Riads, but Riad Zyo is certainly not only the best in Rabat, but in the top list of those we have frequented, for the art-gallery style of its minimalist elegance, matched with the charming attitude in the reception and services, typical of the true Moroccan hospitality. Thanks to all of you, Riad Zyo, and see you again in our next trip to Morocco! Elisabetta and Guido, Room Pasha, February 2025

This Riad feels stopped in time. I gorgeous, it makes you wonder continuously about it’s past… Is one of the most beautiful riad I had the pleasure to stay. Very high cealings, beautiful tile work that feels like the original one. We also liked that thanks to this Riad we discovered Sale. I’m glad it was affordable enough to see how beautiful this building is.
