Nestled in the Chiltern Hills, just north of the River Thames as it winds through Buckinghamshire, The Stag and Huntsman is situated in the picturesque village of Hambleden. It boasts free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. Lovely old building. Great food and excellent staff. Beer festival was a dubious bonus but a super weekend.

A 10-minute walk from the centre of Great Missenden is the Nag’s Head Hotel, a 4-star 15th century inn. Guests can enjoy contemporary styled interiors, Anglo-French fusion cuisine and free Wi-Fi.

Each en suite room is individually designed, some featuring original wood beams and all boasting modern fittings. Views look out onto the surrounding countryside and the Nag’s Head’s own large garden. I liked the back patio area with different types of seating.

Guests can enjoy cocktails and drinks in the bar, and there is a fitness centre and onsite spa. Everything was lovely. The food was good, the staff were helpful and made us (including a lively three year old) very welcome. The bedrooms were very nice and well equipped. A very nice touch was the free food and drink provided! The pool was also a welcome addition.
