We stayed on the ground floor in a spacious, beautifully appointed room that preserved the authentic cave atmosphere while offering every thoughtful modern comfort. They lit up a cistern underneath the room and you could peek into it as they placed glass on the floor - made for the most phenomenal night light ever! There was a pocket garden outside our room. David, the receptionist, was exceptionally polite, genuinely helpful, and excellent at giving clear directions for parking and orienting us to the town and its activities. Just outside the hotel, the view over Matera’s old town was nothing short of breathtaking. Breakfast was varied, generous, and consistently excellent. Truly made for a very memorable and magical stay.

The best stay of our trip! Such a special place in the heart of the beautiful Matera. We were warmly welcomed after our taxi ride booked by the hotel. Anne explained us everything about Matera with great recommendations! She showed us to our beautiful room in an old matera house. The hotel has an amazing aesthetic that resonates well with the city. The breakfast is also very much appreciated with nice music.

Francesco was so warm and welcoming, greeting us with coffee and croissants and sharing a map to walk us through Matera’s rich history and must-see spots. The cave itself was a beautiful loft-style flat, cozy yet spacious. Such a special experience—we’re so glad we stayed here!

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, La Dimora Di Metello offers modern accommodation in Matera's Sasso Barisano, 300 metres from Matera Cathedral. Amazing cave room and excellent location. We parked our car outside the ZTL and took the bus, which took us right to the Sassi centre, from the bus stop the hotel is just a minute away. Tasty breakfast with salty and sweet options.

The rate was above our normal practice, but we did it! We booked for one night and had a memorable experience. Once in a lifetime! Unless we ever return to Matera, in which case we will book the same room: #29! We parked the rental car at Rocco Scotellaro parking lot. Antico Convicino is at 270 meters from that parking lot. 7-8 minutes slow pace. We also followed the recommendations and only took from the car the necessary stuff. The projector with Matera related movies was such a special treat.

L'Arturo B&B offers modern-style rooms in central Matera, 50 metres from its Cathedral. Free WiFi is provided in the entire building. This B&B stunned us, the location is unbelievable, the room was very spacious, elegant, comfortable (with a beautiful unique shower) and an incredible deal for the price. The photos don't do justice with how nice everything is. Monica was a delightful host, so welcoming and friendly. We where sad to leave and whould definitely recommend this B&B to everyone who wants to visit the incredible city of Matera.
