Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama. Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience. The place is absolutely beautiful. By far one of the nicest hotels I've been in. Every detail is well thought of, and the location near Takayama Old city is great.

The staff are very welcoming and courteous. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Accommodation is very comfortable and close to the train/bus station and surrounding attractions.

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. The food - breakfast and dinner - was amazing.

穂高荘 山の庵はJR高山駅から徒歩わずか3分、古い町並み、高山陣屋、宮川朝市から徒歩10分です。ホテルは高山市の中心部に位置し、周辺にはたくさんのレストランがあります。和風の宿泊施設で、広々とした大浴場を併設しています。食事は提供していませんが、お部屋内に軽食としてパンとスープを用意しています。敷地内の無料駐車場を利用できます。... Right when we walked in we knew we had exactly what we wanted with a very traditional Japanese experience. The lady who runs the place is very lovely and offers self serve coffee upon arrival and departure. Our room was very comfortable and plesant and the location is very close to all amenities.

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. The hotel has a really nice and relaxed atmosphere. In the evening we went to the private open onsen and the city view was amazing. The buffet breakfast was really good with lots of options to choose from.

The hotel had onsen with public baths. It was quite neat and clean. Excellent location near Jr station or bus station and a short 5-10 min walk across the river to the old takayama town with tourist things. The bathroom was small (but neat and clean) but we anyways instead used onsen to take bath. The breakfast was just decent and didn't live up to the good reviews we read on booking.com. Just outside the hotel, there is a small cafe run by an old Japanese lady. We loved our coffee and deserts there. Would recommend it if you crave good coffee after the breakfast buffet (it has machine coffee).
