the kaiseki breakfast was absolutely incredible. our room (river view) was stunning and the amenities were great, the staff was absolutely lovely (especially when helping with the yakutas) and the location was absolutely superb - right in the centre of Kinosaki. THE best night's sleep I've had in years (well over a decade), we roasted ourselves in the amazing hot springs until the very last opening minutes (11pm) and couldn't wait to do it again first thing in the morning.

Very classy ryokan. Staff very friendly. Have a designated room for the dinner. Good food and Good onsen.

A beautiful location for a simply gorgeous hotel. The room was lovely with a fantastic view of the lake, the breakfasts were well rounded choices and delicious, and most of all the staff were always helpful. I highly recommend staying here if you want to explore around Kyoto and Lake Biwa, and then have a great place to relax after a busy day, or to take a break and some time to simply relax

The room with split level was small but cosy and with so many intriguing details at every turn. You can't help but marvel at the owner's design and attention to detail. The host family was lovely and their communal areas equally fascinating.

Absolutely lovely place within an easy train ride to Kyoto. Very interesting building with lots of history and fantastic staff. The neighborhood was very interesting and quiet - for those looking to stay in Kyoto for the historical experience I recommend trying this place out - much easier on the budget :)
