Rebuilt in 2014, Quest on Thorndon offers art deco-style apartments with free WiFi and a fully equipped kitchen. Guests receive free access to the CityFitness gym located next to the property. I like that they provide very decent shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Towels are plenty and there is a heat towel rack, a total luxury during cold, windy Wellington days. Their housekeeping standard is obviously very high, they make the bed even help washes the mugs and glasses.

Set on a large country estate with sweeping gardens and panoramic views of the Wairarapa wine-growing region, Parehua Resort features an open-air bar and fine dining restaurant. We loved our villa. Beautiful velvet curtains. Well appointed kitchen and bathroom. Separate dressing room. Lovely window seat with a view. The hot tub was nice. Good breakfast. Beautifully maintained grounds. We have stayed multiple times and would stay again. A little bit out of town however.

Just 5 minutes' walk from Cuba Street's bars and restaurants, Capital View Motor Inn - Free Parking offers self-contained apartments with views of the harbor and Wellington city. Location was within easy walking distance to the Te PaPa Museum and Cuba St, where there are many restaurants to choose from. Room was spacious and quiet and comfortable and parking was free and on site.(something not easily found in Wellington) A quick easy drive to the interisland ferry terminal.
