Our stay at No.5 Valley Lodge was excellent! The staff was amazing – especially Rain, who was incredibly helpful and always available when we needed something. Everyone working there was kind and made us feel truly welcome. The location is peaceful and beautiful, perfect for relaxing after exploring the area.

Location was great! Right next to the West Entrance of the National Park. Our room was also very comfortable and clean. What we liked the most was Carol, she helped us a lot! She booked our national park tickets and Tianmen Mountain and at the same time provided guidance which way to take and also arranging car pickup. The Inn has also restaurant - it seems family owned one, Carol was also very helpful in translating things for us. Since international card gets charged when you exceed 200 Yuan, Carol was kind to allow us to pay by batches so we don’t get charged the fee:)

The kindness and thoughtfulness of the host. She gave us valuable advice on how to visit the huge forest park in limited time. Following her suggested routes, we don't have to queue a minute even during the long weekend holiday. Yes, its location might not be close to other area with shops or restaurants, but we had dinners in the homestay for two evenings, and the dishes were great! Besides, the room is clean, and materials served in the homestay were eco friendly. 10/10 recommended.

Wah, the location is super convenient, just walk to the forest park. The staff are really friendly, help us book tickets and plan route, no need to worry about anything. The pool is shiok after a whole day of walking, and the room very clean and comfy with nice view. Breakfast also not bad, got local options. Highly recommend for those who want a hassle-free trip. Definitely worth it!

The helpfulness of the owner already started days before our arrival. Make sure you have WeChat before you get here, and that you have a decent translation app. English is poorly spoken here, but the helpfulness is beyond anything I have ever expected. Also the room is amazing.

Staying here was amazing. The room is clean and just like advertised. The best thing about the hotel has to be how helpful Carol (one of the ladies who runs the hotel) is. She speaks great English and she helped us a great deal with booking drivers, organising our days in the park and finding alternatives in case of bad weather. She gave us great tips about lesser known parts of the park which aren’t even on most maps, which turned out to be the best views that we had. We got unlucky and the park was unexpectedly closed for 2 days during our stay and she drove us to the ticket office and even negotiated us a refund. The hotel is a lovely family run business and the food that we could order for breakfast and dinner was delicious. There were sockets that we could plug our european chargers into which was also a plus. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here because of the great hospitality and easy access to the park.

We really enjoyed our stay. The owner, Lucas, ßand staf were very helpful in arranging our tours.We felt that we were visiting family rather than staying at a hotel. The location was conveniently very near one of thw park entrances.

First of all, the location: the house is situated just inside the Zhangjiajie Forest National Park, by the West Gate. If you plan to really see the Park, this is the best place to stay for sure since it does take a good hour from Zhangjiajie City to reach. Instead of getting up super early every day, we could easily just walk outside the house and wave for the bus to stop and let us on, then we’d drive maybe 5 minutes (if at all) and arrive at the cable car station. The facilities are amazing, too. The room was beautiful and nicely renovated and it even had one of those neat automatic toilets. The house had multiple seating areas outside, like a terrace and a pool (which was closed since it was the low season), but our absolute favorite was the patio by the river. It’s so peaceful and idyllic and really lets you appreciate the natural scenery. Secondly: the food! Delicious breakfast and dinner! Most importantly: our hosts! These people are the warmest, kindest, most gracious hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Especially Nihong. Our time in Zhangjiajie would not have been the same without her. She was our tour guide for the first two full days, showing us so much of the park we would have never seen otherwise. She took time out of her day for us for three straight days just to make sure we had the best possible experience. We learned so much about Tujia culture as well, which was so interesting. Her English is so good and she was always interested in learning more, and in turn she helped us learn a few Chinese words and phrases. And her husband drove us to the Railway Station when we had a very early train to catch, which was such a big help. We could not have been more lucky with these kind people! All in all, if you’re thinking of staying here, please do! You won’t regret it. We certainly hope we can return one day! Xiexie! Wo ai ni Zhangjiajie!
