I had pre-booked my first night in India. I was looking for a nice houseboat which could provide peace and quiet, genuine Kashmir food and an astonishing view — all this on a budget. My research led me to Kings Houseboats: Spot on! My plan was to stay a night or two meanwhile I was looking for the right place to stay but when I arrived at the houseboat and I saw my room, I knew I found the right place! When you are lying down on your pillow looking out through the wide side windows and you see the amazing lotus fields spreading out until the misty mountains of the Himalayan — this is life! When I took a rickshaw (100 rubies — electric rickshaw) downtown to Dal lake and I saw the houseboats all stuck together and the shikara driving around like crazy, I really understood that I made the right decision!

Beautiful location, peaceful and traditional experience.
Away from the Main Street which added an additional peace. Floating markets a must see. Highly recommend this stay when visiting Kashmir. Lovely heated rooms, hot shower and ample bedding for the Winter weather.

Excellent location and very peaceful, not very crowded like Dal Lake as this is situated in Nigeen Lake, service was excellent by Ashraf, Reyaz our caretakers & Mr Tanveer our manager were very friendly and hospitable, food was very good
