This was our favourite property in Japan. Warm and inviting. Staff helpful and kind. The onsen was awesome! Location fabulous. And the free drinks every night really created a great vibe. All the gusts of the hotel hanging out all eve in the common area as the town closes up quite early. The place was gorgeous and simple. I miss it as I sit in my big impersonal Tokyo hotel

The Ryokan was exceptional. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. The room (the one with the semi open air bath) is astonishing. The kaiseki dinner was excellent and the sushi bar too.

Fantastic guesthouse. Certainly the best i've ever stayed in. My family loved it. Beautifully appointed home. Host met us at the house and carefully explained everything. He went on to make a reservation for dinner for us and was always available to answer any questions for us during our stay. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

This was the most amazing accomodation i had in 2 weeks travelling around Japan! The house was amazingly nice, comfortable, clean. Every detail was designed with a great taste. Warm heating under the table, very sophisticated pillows wich gave me the best sleep, wooden bathroom! It is perfect. The best accomodation in Japan!

The guesthouse is in the heart of the Takayama old town preservation area, which can provide you with the sensation of stepping back in time. It is also conveniently walking distance from anything one may want to visit. You get the taste of staying in a traditional house with the comforts of a newly refurbished facility. A great choice if one cannot afford the full experience of a traditional Ryokan. The guesthouse also comes with the advantage of sleeping in a comfortable mattress instead of a single futon). The owners are very welcoming and exceptionally helpful and kind. They provided us with A5 Hida beef for dinner, which is likely the tastiest food we had since we arrived to Japan. When it started raining, they also kindly offered us a lift to the station to avoid us getting wet. We would definitely recommend this guesthouse for your stay in Takayama, it is certainly a top choice to enjoy the city at its best.
