Camping along the river was very appealing. The very strong rains made using the river impossible and it was quite damp for tenting, but that was not the fault of the proprietors. They arranged safari vehicles and guides and gave us very good advice about the length of the safari that would be best for our group.

Kottawatta surprised us at every turn; from the cold facial towels upon entry to the poolside drinks to an amazing curry for dinner. As a plus, the room was extremely comfortable. Our safari organized through the hotel was exceptional!

Athgira River Camping offers a great outdoor dining experience as well as a barbecue dinner and cooking demonstrations. Real wild cocktails and a nice wine selection are available as well. We stayed in a river view tent and the view from balcony was great. The food was very good with a good range of choice Staff very friendly
