Our stay at Makulu Safari Camping was an absolute highlight of our Sri Lanka adventure. Nestled amidst the lush wilderness, this place offers a truly immersive experience. The staff, led by the exceptional Ayon, were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and always went the extra mile to ensure our comfort. A Culinary Delight The food served at Makulu was hands-down the best we had during our entire trip. Every meal was a delicious surprise, showcasing the local flavors and fresh ingredients. Dining under the starry sky by the campfire was a magical experience. Wildlife Encounters Galore We were fortunate to witness an array of fascinating wildlife during our stay. From the majestic elephants to the intriguing land monitors, the camp's location provided ample opportunities for wildlife encounters. The early morning sounds of the jungle were a symphony for the ears. A Memorable Safari Experience The team at Makulu expertly arranged our safari trips, ensuring we made the most of our time in Udawalawe National Park. Their knowledge and passion for wildlife were evident, making our safaris even more enjoyable. The tent features air conditioning, an electric kettle, a terrace with river views as well as a private bathroom boasting a shower. The unit has 2 beds. Beautiful and clean property. Felt like home. He organized the safari, the driver was a great guide. Lots of animals to see and lots of elephants. The owner is very kind. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I have stayed in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended for a few days getaway

Offering river views, this fan-cooled tent has a private entrance, seating area and extra large bed with spring mattress. It includes a hot water shower, towel and shoe racks. Beautiful large site. Two pools. Comfy pillows and bed. Nice size room. Wonderful private jeep safari by Kottawatta - the driver was a fantastic guide. Grounds staff and restaurant staff were so friendly. Staff will haul luggage to and from rooms. Easily able to park our tuk tuk. Breakfast buffet is fairly extensive.

Athgira River Camp is located at the door step of Udawalawe National Park with views of Rakwana River. It’s very close to Udawalawe reservoir and to the Elephant Orphanage. The property is gorgeous and very natural. There are no eye-sores, everything is very blended with nature. The two swimming pools were really lovely and the restaurant buffet dinners were delicious. The best part was the general manager who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. He engaged with our kids and made sure they stayed busy with basketball, volleyball, arranged a village walk across the river, and made special arrangements on our safari to celebrate my son's birthday. He was like a traditional hotel general manager who treats everybody like his personal guest. It's a really special place and definitely a great base for visiting both Udawalawe and Yala parks.

Everything is rteally nice, the rock pools are amazing and the junglke is all around you. The cabins are very new and comfortable. I thought the loud music was a bit irritating, but maybe that was just an exeption!
