Spacious room, fridge available, garbage cans in room are daily emptied. The towels smell nice 🙂 You get a "gästekarte" for public transportation. Quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. Friendly, dedicated host, however, due to the language barrier we missed out on casual chats.

Claudia and Petra responded very quickly to our initial enquiries when booking and went out of their way to make our stay (brief as it was) comfortable and enjoyable. We arrived by bicycle and it was easy to have a secure place for them, and we were able to wash our riding clothes without any fuss. Breakfast was great!

We arrived earlier than expected, and the owner was kind enough to let us store our bags until the room was ready. When it was, he even helped us carry our belongings to the room. The breakfast was locally made, and the owner proudly mentioned it was freshly prepared by a neighbor, which really highlighted the sense of community in the area. The way locals worked together to serve tourists and hikers added something special to the experience. While the location was close to the train station, it did take a 15-minute walk to reach the ferry crossing, but even that felt worthwhile in the end.

This guest house is situated in the Schmilka district of Bad Schandau, overlooking the River Elbe. Haus Bergfriede has a sun terrace and barbecue facilities.

The hotel has its own parking lot and restaurant (for our stay it’s open until 19:30). The staffs are very friendly and helpful. They made a customized spaghetti for my child. The building (and our window) is very beautiful with green vines. There is a interesting collection of books ( world highlights, information technology, Olympic Games in 1964, children books) and board games.
