This was one of the super surprises. The rooms are in the very centre of the hamlet beside the church and situated above a really great restaurant (same ownership). Everything was spanking brand new and beautifully done. Maybe we struck lucky, but we had the biggest twin room of the trip so far with large, double-aspect windows offering delightful views across the rolling green fields and woods beyond the village. Bathroom was also large and super modern. Beds and pillows good, linen good, socket and shelving and light switches near both beds, chairs for sitting/putting stuff on, fully functioning aircon/heating, and a large shared terrace outside the room that would be nice for warmer weather. The restaurant was great with an interesting menu featuring good local dishes and ingredients and everything I chose was utterly delicious. The two brothers who respectively run the restaurant and the rooms are both exceptionally nice and it's a good place to practise your Spanish!

Set in a traditional Cantabrian house, Posada La Herradura offers a peaceful location in the small village of Liermo. The guest house includes a breakfast buffet.

Immaculately clean and the staff were absolutely amazing. So much patience explaining the spa and breakfast when we only speak English and they only speak Spanish. We cannot praise them highly enough.

The room was large with high ceilings and good size bathroom, clean and decor in keeping with the old style building, it has a lift and rooms have names instead of numbers. It really was nice.
