The tranquility of the place and small river next to it, you could hear it running at night as tiny town so small, mountains around you, nice to escape the big cities 😀, and the host, this guy nos how to make a kiwi feel at home!!! The house is not an anonymous hostel but a place with a special atmosphere. Hagi has a lot of traditional stuff to offer and Kominka Guesthouse helps you to get into the spirit! I was stuck here during the typhoon but I don't regret it, it's completely chilled out and quiet, the host is a nice guy and the rent a great bargain.

The food was delicious, the accomodation bright and clean and beautiful. The host was cheerful and very easy to talk to and went above and beyond to make my stay amazing. She had some recommendations when I talked to her about my plans in the area which all turned out great when I tried them. Communication was pretty easy and uncomplicated. I would love to return and spend more time here if I have the chance.

The owner is a superb host. Friendly and helpful. Keeps everything very orderly. The location is great at a walkable distance from downtown/nearest station. It is just across the road from a pleasant onsen which accepts day trippers. It means you can add a bit of luxury to your guest house stay. Bicycle rental and luggage storage is at the nearest station. They know Ulala and they were very flexible about extending the standard period to suit my plan.
