Sahan Guest House was an awesome find! The welcome was warm and genuine — I was even greeted with a refreshing welcome drink, which was a great touch after a long trip. The room was super clean, air-conditioned, and really comfortable. WiFi was fast and reliable, which was perfect for planning my day trips and staying connected. The location is perfect — right in the city, close to everything, and just a short ride to the ancient city. Super convenient if you’re exploring the cultural sites nearby. There’s also fast food and other restaurants nearby if you’re craving a quick bite. Honestly, the hospitality here is top-notch. Sahan and the team really care about their guests. I felt safe, relaxed, and very well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!🍹🇻🇳

Probably the most friendly hosts we had in Sri Lanka so far. The whole family owning this place is so nice and made everything possible to make us happy and enjoy our stay in Polonnaruwa! In addition the view on the rice field is wonderful and everything was clean!

The family is incredibly welcoming, from the parents to the son, that is helping from time to time. The rooms are nice and clean, the bed comfortable and you can rent a bike there to go visit the city (although a bit old they work well). The breakfast was very good. Our only regret was spending only one night here and continue our chat with the son and father. Thank you for the hospitality and the ride to the bus station!

Incredibly friendly and helpful host and family, with an adorable dog. We rented bikes which was very handy for polonnaruwa, the rooms were great, comfy, with fans and A/C, everything very clean. Rooms had bathrooms as well, which were clean and great! Area was very close to the old town and ancient ruins which felt very authentic (but also they have bikes so you can easily cycle to other areas). And did I mention the hosts were amazing because they were the best. They offered us dinner (which we sadly missed but Mr.punsiri's kitchen around the corner was 10/10) but got a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast.

Very clean room, exceptional breakfast and host family. WiFi,warm water, water pressure and A/C worked perfectly. You can also eat dinner at the hotel. It is just a 5mins walk from the lake promenade where we watched beautiful sunsets. 10mins bicycle ride to the maingate of the ancient sights, 5min to the museum and ticket office. Can rent bicycle at the hotel as well. we loved our stay

Like the title says this is a good budget stay. You have everything that you need, it is very close to the archaeological site, the food is delicious and in large quantities , and most importantly the owner and his mother treat you like family. I really enjoyed my time there as a solo traveller, they are very kind. The owner also has a jeep for safari.

Decent sized room with windows and a view over rice paddies. Set back from the road so nice and quiet. The owner helped us organise a tuk tuk tour of the ancient city and if the weather is good they have bikes. I had a medical issue during my stay and the host went above and beyond transporting me to hospital and helping me navigate the health system. Truly grateful.
