It was warm and had a kitchen that was perfectly adequate to cook a meal. The bathroom was modern with a generously sized shower. There were two bathrobes as well as towels. It was quiet and with parking right outside. The house is up the hill from the harbour and it was a bit cold (snow everywhere) to walk to the hot pools on the shore so we took the car, but I would estimate a 10 min walk in summer.

The interior decoration is just spectacular -but not only , the hotel has a very authentic northern vibe - the views , the light , the design and location by the sea made our stay a truly unique experience - Hotel Karolina was my favorite accommodation during our 10 days trip in Iceland.

The ideal location for photographing the aurora! Mirror like water in foreground, mountains in background, and clear 180 degree view of the sky. Got amazing photos right from their backyard. The check-in was clear, simple, and completely stress-free, which set the tone for a relaxing stay. There’s a warm, authentic atmosphere here, yet it’s kept at the standard of a hotel. On top of that, the location is perfect. Stykkishólmur is such a beautiful little town, with colorful houses, a charming harbor, and a small hilltop offering a lovely viewpoint over the town.
