Another big plus was that Jin-san offered to drop us off at the starting point for our early-morning Mount Yufu trek. The scenery around the guest house is breathtaking, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. And of course, we can’t forget Momo-chan, the charming resident cat, who added an extra touch of warmth to our stay. It is tucked away from the crowd but walkable to the station, main street and flower village. The staff were very warm and welcoming. I had a wonderful breakfast there with a view of the lake. There is no shower, but they give you towels to use in public baths (and there are tons of them around). Speaking of which, the location is amazing, it's in the coolest area of Beppu where steam is coming out of the ground on the streets. There is a big popular onsen in 5 minute walk and smaller ones just around the corner. The owner was very nice and told me about the best onsens and sightseeing spots in the area.
