It was designed by the owner and you can see the personal care behind it. Bunks in dorms are clean, spacious and super cozy with the wooden aesthetic. The staff was so welcoming and generous, it was great to be able to meet them as a solo traveller and made it feel like I was staying with friends. Walking distance to train station and large supermarket only 10 mins away. I wish I could have stayed longer and I will come back here if I come back to Shikoku.

Excellent location, just in front of temple number 1, The owner is extremely helpful, good rooms, share bathroom bur Excellent one. It was a fantastic start to my pilgrimage. Really recommend

The owner is very friendly and helpful, and the beds and public spaces are well kept. The location is very good too, within walking distance of downtown areas and Hirome Market. The dorm beds were actual mattresses, so they were very comfortable, and the bunks came with many sockets and accessories (fan, light, clothes line, tissues). It’s a refurbished house, so it felt very cozy. It was comfortable and I enjoyed talking to other guests and the owner. It was a superb stay, one of the best guesthouses I’ve ever stayed at! Situated 47 km from Mannou Park, Cosmos Guesthouse Iya Valley in Akano features rooms with air conditioning and free WiFi. The property has mountain and quiet street views, and is 48 km from Kotohiragu Shrine. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen, free shuttle service and luggage storage for guests. The location was great, and a perfect starting point for exploring Oboke and the Iya Valley. Ryu was a great host, he picked us up from the station as he knew it was going to rain, and also helped us out with finding the best hikes. Beds were really comfortable, and the kitchen supplied with all you need to cook a nice meal.

The house is beautifully designed and we loved that it's different than most Japanese guest houses. It's lovely to have such a modern and cozy concept in a small town, away from the crowds. There is actually a lot of charm in the town and it was one of our favorite stops on a month-long trip to Japan. That is also because of Alrik, who manages the property. He was so kind, hospitable, and friendly! We felt welcomed as friends, not just hotel guests. He did everything we could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. There is a beautiful forest around, the view from the top of the town is lovely, so is the walk by the river and sunset. The Shinto shrine was such a special experience too! Thank you, Alrik and Next Chapter for this beautiful stay! We will come back to the area just to visit the guest house again, especially if Alrik is still running it!
