When we arrived (which was late due to traffic) we were greeted by the enthusiasm of the host, he helped us with parking and was very excited to show us the place. We felt very welcome. There are private bathrooms which you can book to bath with your friends/family, one of the best thing about this little gem in Atami:) I was surprised by the cleanliness and the comfort level here. it’s a newly refurbished building, it has three floors with a spacious living room/common room on the second floor which is shared by all the customers here. The room comes with a standard toilet and a shower and quite spacious overall. The tatami bed is comfy. Other reviews complained about the location, but because we drive we think it is an amazing spot! It’s 3 min drive from the famous shrine, and 5 minute to the ginza where there is lots of restaurants and shops. You can also see the fireworks display in the living room if you come on the right times:) We didn’t get the youthful and energetic host’s name, but thank you so much we had a great time staying!!

ペンション桜家 features air-conditioned guest accommodation in Shimoda, 600 metres from Shirahama Ohama Beach, 47 km from Koibito Misaki Cape and 50 km from Shuzen-ji Temple. This guest house provides free private parking and luggage storage space. The guest house offers mountain views and a terrace. Everything. The owners were so kind and thoughtful, walking us through the checkin process and tour. They made us feel so at home. The room was amazing, we had Japanese style with tatami mats and slept on futons. I highly recommend staying in one of these rooms instead of the regular beds. You don’t have your private bathroom, but they’re right outside your door and the bath is lovely. Yukatas were also provided so we enjoyed the full experience. Lovely location. You do walk up a hill from the bus, but it’s worth the climb. Amazing views. Shirahama beach is beautiful, and there is a nice cafe/shop down the road where you can eat until 7pm. There’s also a seven eleven at the base of the hill. So beautiful, so much care, and it was like we had a nice home stay. Will be back.

The owners were really kind, showing us places to visit, taking us to a nice morning walk to the coast. The grill dinner, you definitely need to book it, its worth the money!!!

In the Shuzenji Onsen district of Izu, close to Shuzen-ji Temple, Hostel Knot has a shared lounge and a washing machine. Each accommodation at the 2-star guest house has city views, and guests can enjoy access to a hot spring bath. The guest house offers mountain views, a sun terrace, and free WiFi is available throughout the property. We stayed at the hostel for two nights. There were three of us traveling together, and we stayed in mixed rooms. The whole hostel is clean and tidy. We didn't use the kitchen. The bathroom is small, and there is only one in the whole hostel, but there is an onsen next to the hostel, which we have access to as guests. The recommendations on where to eat at different times of the day were very useful.
