I had a wonderful stay with a warm, welcoming family! I was well taken care of throughout my visit. The room was cozy and clean, and the food was absolutely amazing. They provided plenty of information and recommendations on where to go and what to do—from a morning boat tour to kayak and bicycle rentals, plus laundry facilities, everything you need was available. Keep in mind that the homestay is a bit remote, further from the main river, but I found this to be an advantage. It allowed me to rent a kayak and explore the small canals easily. Additionally, the homestay is within walking distance from the train station—if you choose to walk, follow the road near the temple.

This place is really amazing. Deepa is a wonderful person and she and her family made my stay to a wonderful experience. We had a really nice sunset-tour with her father. The food was also very good. The room is big, cozy and clean. It was the best homestay I had so far in India!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kailasam Homestay, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and hospitality. The homestay offers a truly cozy, home-like atmosphere, making it feel like a peaceful retreat. The highlight of the stay was the food—each meal was not just tasty but a real treat for the taste buds! Kala, the host, was incredibly kind and went the extra mile by teaching us how to prepare some of the delicious dishes. We had so much fun cooking together and learning new techniques that we can now recreate at home. Additionally, Kailasam Homestay arranged several activities for us, including boating, cycling, and kayaking. The scenic surroundings made these experiences even more memorable, and it was a great way to explore the area and unwind. All in all, Kailasam Homestay offers the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and exceptional food. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable stay!

We loved our 2 night stay here with Unni and his family and wholeheartedly agree with all the positive comments in previous reviews. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with big smiles from the whole family. Our room upstairs was spotlessly clean with comfy bed and a nice balcony to sit on. All the food is home cooked with pride and I’d recommend you find time and space for the lunch ! We ate all our meals here , you won’t find better. We did the sunrise boat tour which was beautiful and Unni arranged bike hire for us which was a great way to explore the island , walking is hot but you have a nice breeze with a bike ! Don’t miss a visit to the lovely ladies at the cotton weaving factory and the coir factory. Very hardworking ladies in small ‘sheds’ who are happy to see you and show off their skills. No payment asked but take some smaller notes as a little ‘coffee’ money is appreciated! Make a stop at the ‘Mocktail’ bar for a delicious juice. Don’t be put off by its rustic appearance! Thank you Unni and family and wishing you all the best for the future.

What a lovely family and stay. It may have been our favorite part of our week long stay in Kerala. Munroe Island allowed us to get away from the busy tourist traffic and enjoy the tranquil side of Kerala through its backwater. Vishnu and his family have created a little oasis on their property. You really don't need to do anything other than sit on the front porch and watch the peaceful day pass. Their family provided all the meals, cold beer, and even took us out on the backwaters for a sunrise tour (we were not provided the prices for the extra services in advance, but everything was reasonable. Just make sure to have extra cash). Basically we showed up and didn't have to do any planning, just relaxed and enjoyed. We spent our time walking around the quiet island, kayaking, and sitting on our idyllic front porch. The accommodations were basic, but we did not have to use the mosquito net over our bed, the fan was amazing, and the room was clean. This place is a hidden gem. It's the best way to experience the Kerala backwaters.

I had an unforgettable stay on Munroe Island! Appu, the host, was incredibly kind and attentive—he truly made all my wishes come true. He organized everything for me, from kayaking through the peaceful backwaters to exploring the island by bicycle, and he even cooked delicious meals just for me. The location was perfect, set right between the serene river and a beautiful temple, creating the ideal atmosphere for relaxation and connection with nature. We had a very good time at Vishnu’s home stay. The food prepared and served was amazing. On top of it Vishnu took us for canoeing for a price and it was brilliant. He knows many ways inside the island and that made him show various places during canoeing. Thank you very much for all the hospitality and food and we definitely come back again.

Honestly this homestay was more like a home. Suresh Uncle, Aunty and Anand were amazing host. Aunty is such a great a cook and Uncle took us to see the nearby places in Munroe Island. This place is so calm, amazing location just next to the canal. They also arranged the canoe ride for us. More than the homestay I liked the simplicity and warmth of the owners. Uncle even gave us the plants from their garden. Rooms were well lit and clean and they even have a chill out zone, a nice pond and a ground for kids to play.

This was my second stay at Munroe Island Backwater Homestay. The location is breathtaking, and is perfect for a relaxing trip. The staff are so kind, and the food is fantastic - there's always something different on the menu. I felt incredibly safe at the house, and would be more than comfortable visiting alone as a female!
