I really loved all about it! The place is super nice, cozy and clean and the owners are really nice and kind people. He even took us on a hike with him and made BBQ afterwards which was just perfect. I really enjoyed it a lot and if I have the chance I will come back here. Thank you very much for these cool days full of experience!!!

It’s on the main shopping street. The bus stops to the surrounding ski destinations are nearby. I also rented ski equipment from the owner for a week for a good price. He has a big selection, including specialist ski gear. There’s a kitchen, so you can cook your own food.

So to start, you definitely need a car. In the winter it’s not close to any one ropeway/ski hill, but you are central to many!! The hostel is very thought through. Plenty of things located exactly where it’s most convenient. A definite sign of someone who has traveled themselves! Speaking of which, Toshifumi is an amazing host! Friendly, informative and always keen to ski with guests or have a barbecue in the summer! We went skiing out at Asahidake when the clouds cleared a bit and had an incredible day with Toshifumi. It was almost like having a free guide to hang out with and I’m not even sure he realizes how much we appreciated it! Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to spend at least a few days in the area to hit up the ski hills or for touring.

" A must experience place in Hokkaido". We had no idea what was ahead of us when we booked a stay at "one and only". We were scrolling through places to stay nearby/on the way to asahidake, and came across this affordable place, and thought it looked nice. What a lucky find. As we arrived, the host had lit up the fireplace, the front room was nice and warm and cozy. Two bedrooms, and a living room with an extra bed, was ready for us. Comfortable beds and great atmosphere. What we was about to realize, was that this special place also came with an excellent chef. We were served a delicious 7 course meal made entirely of local ingredients. The dishes were of Michelin quality at an affordable cost. To top it off, the whole experience was as we sat in this beautiful kitchen as the hosts cooked and served us with tastefully seasoned creations. Everything made from scratch. This was a culinary experience you’ll have to pay top dollar for in the city. Breakfast next morning was delicious and served with the same kind of passion. We were mesmerized by the delicious food and hospitality of the hosts and can’t wait to get back. We highly recommend visiting "one and only", either for a total package or just to satisfy your needs to enjoy a great meal. Best food experience on our trip to Japan this time. Hope as many people as possible can enjoy this beautiful place, hosts and their amazing food. Arigato🙏🏼
