The Japanese house is old, but absolutely charming. Every tiny detail reflects the love and care that’s gone into it. Mayumi’s chiffon cake at breakfast was so delicious, I’m still dreaming about it!

I had a wonderful stay at Aaron's guest house and would highly recommend it. The place was very clean and comfortable. Aaron was kind and friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout my visit. He helped me book bus tickets and gave me useful tips that made my trip so much easier and more enjoyable.

To say we were well looked after, would be a massive understatement. Mandy-san is a very special person and her kindness has deeply touched us. Besides having the luck to enjoy her many skills as the wonderful host she is, my girlfriend also had an acupuncture session with her. Mandy-san was both incredibly gentle and precise, almost as if she had a sixth sense. Our stay at SOLA guesthouse in one word? Magical! :)

It was great to make friends with her especially as a foreign solo traveler. - The thoughfully prepared welcome tea, sumptuous dinner, and hearty breakfast to fuel a day's hike. - The room – very cozy. - The bathroom. My stay at Hatago Marasa is amazing! It locates on the way of Kumano Kodo Nakahechi and you can also access from Kurisugawa bus stop. The room is large and beautiful, and owner are kind, welcoming and providing awesome western (french?) style food, will definitely recommend to anyone!

    Great host, multi lingual, went out of way to make sure we had all we needed, even took us to great little quirky restaurant near trail head. Opposite bus stop. Also has electric boot dryers (handy when walking through a typhoon lol) for use. Definitely book ahead for this one if on trail, All modern and clean. Basic Brekkie but ok. Highly Recommend.

    Beautiful property perched in the mountains near the start of the Kumano Kodo trail. Simon and his wife were great hosts providing a shuttle up to their house and then again to the start of the trail. The room was traditional and beautifully finished and we even sampled some homemade plum wine!

    The host was very friendly. He shared homemade plum wine with us, which was super delicious, and he also provided us with some oranges. He also gave us route guidance and shared the bus schedule with us. What I liked most was that the host picked us up from Tanabe Station and sent us from the homestay to Takijiri the next day, so we saved the bus fare.
