Out of the 100+ of places I've stayed the past few months, this is easily one of the nicest. Great host, warm welcome and helps out. The bed and house is very cosy and clean.

I had a wonderful stay at Aaron's guest house and would highly recommend it. The place was very clean and comfortable. Aaron was kind and friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout my visit. He helped me book bus tickets and gave me useful tips that made my trip so much easier and more enjoyable.

Very homely feeling during our stay in Hongu. Mandy not only made us feel welcome but looked after and took us around as if we were family. She also went out of her way to organise a taxi to find us when we got lost during our hike - without her I am not sure what would've happened. Both home prepped meals were amazing, and the acupuncture service was extremely professional. We really enjoyed this authentic Japanese homestay experience and hope to be back soon!

My stay at ichie was great! Like all of Japan, it was very clean and had great facilities. Super close to the beach and walking distance from the trim station. Mayumi was an amazing host and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. Great spot 🦩

Amazing place - it’s huge and the host is lovely guy who runs a great outdoors shop downstairs! The town is lovely and it’s in a great location, near the station and loads of places to eat nearby.

Wonderful location at the start of the Kumano Kodo trail. We spent about 2 hours walking from the information center to this guest house, and then about 5 hours to our next accommodation in Chikatsuyu the following day, making it a great stop. Super friendly hosts, clean and tidy accommodation, French-style cuisine was a nice novelty and very tasty.

    Great host, multi lingual, went out of way to make sure we had all we needed, even took us to great little quirky restaurant near trail head. Opposite bus stop. Also has electric boot dryers (handy when walking through a typhoon lol) for use. Definitely book ahead for this one if on trail, All modern and clean. Basic Brekkie but ok. Highly Recommend.

    Beautiful property perched in the mountains near the start of the Kumano Kodo trail. Simon and his wife were great hosts providing a shuttle up to their house and then again to the start of the trail. The room was traditional and beautifully finished and we even sampled some homemade plum wine!

    The host was very friendly. He shared homemade plum wine with us, which was super delicious, and he also provided us with some oranges. He also gave us route guidance and shared the bus schedule with us. What I liked most was that the host picked us up from Tanabe Station and sent us from the homestay to Takijiri the next day, so we saved the bus fare.
