Really welcoming host, the rooms were immaculate, great hot showers, clean bathrooms, one of our favourite stays in a 5 week trip around Sri Lanka. The location and the great field views made it a fantastic place to stay while exploring the temple/ruins. Set back from the main road so it was quiet at night too. The food was absolutely amazing - the breakfast was huge and brilliant value for money at $3 each, don't miss out on the fantastic coconut and honey pancakes. We ate dinner here both nights of our stay and the amazing flavours and generous portions were better than a lot we have seen in restaurants on our travels. The spiced chicken/rice with all the sri lankan side dishes we had was lovely! The host is always there without being intrusive, happy to help book things if needed or just have a chat. Would thoroughly recommend staying here!

Very nice place with garden . My room had great terasa and air condition. Quite good location, near centre and you can walk by the lake. Wery friendly owner. Big breakfast (extra paid). Best accomodation for that price. I would recomend it!

Staying at Aruna Home Stay in Polonnaruwa was by far the best experience I had with local people during my trip in Sri Lanka. Mom and daughter were incredibly kind, always smiling, and genuinely helpful, making me feel like part of their family from the very first moment. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. What really made the difference was the warm hospitality: sharing meals, stories, and local advice gave me the chance to experience authentic Sri Lankan culture in a way that no hotel could offer. The location is also great, close to the ancient city and easy to reach by bike or tuk-tuk. Breakfast and dinner prepared at the homestay were delicious, with fresh and traditional dishes full of flavor. Sahan Guest House was an awesome find! The welcome was warm and genuine — I was even greeted with a refreshing welcome drink, which was a great touch after a long trip. The room was super clean, air-conditioned, and really comfortable. WiFi was fast and reliable, which was perfect for planning my day trips and staying connected. The location is perfect — right in the city, close to everything, and just a short ride to the ancient city. Super convenient if you’re exploring the cultural sites nearby. There’s also fast food and other restaurants nearby if you’re craving a quick bite. Honestly, the hospitality here is top-notch. Sahan and the team really care about their guests. I felt safe, relaxed, and very well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!🍹🇻🇳

I only had one night here but I loved this place. I was given a welcome drink, the room was spotlessly clean, the shower was fantastic, the TV worked, and the bed and pillow were the most comfortable I've had in Sri Lanka. Amazing value for money.

We loved our stay here. We only had a night which felt like enough for the area but wished we could have stayed longer at their lovely guest house. The couple that run it are so friendly, attentive and we felt right at home. The room was so cosy and tastefully done. We found the bed to be comfortable and really appreciated having a lamp and decorations in the room. The food was so yummy and fresh. We loved the dog Lily as well as the owners. There was just a warm atmosphere and the place felt loved.
