The lodge is a prime example of how hospitality should be lived. Upon arrival, you receive a warm welcome – a personal touch and with a lovingly prepared aperitif. The hot tub is already heated and invites you to relax. All rooms are furnished with great attention to detail and provide a warm, inviting atmosphere. Added to this is the high standard of cleanliness – you feel at home from the very first moment. The beds are extremely comfortable; we slept wonderfully. The absolute highlight was the breakfast: individually prepared, fresh, plentiful, and simply delicious. A big thank you to Lois and Alan for your wonderful hospitality – we felt right at home and will definitely be back!

Fantastic accommodation and location: separate lodgings with a private entrance in a home giving access to lovely Virginia Lake. The suite is spacious and everything surpassed our expectations, from the layout-access (although the suite is part of a home, it is totally private) and the quality of furnishings/linen/spaciousness, etc. Alka is a lovely host, facilitating easy check-in and (late) check-out and ensuring that we had everything we needed for breakfast and a comfortable stay. We wouldn't hesitate to return here should we back in the Whanganui and thoroughly recommend it to any visitors to the city.

Where do i start.....Location: up a valley just off Durie hill, lovely quiet street, easy parking right outside. Really close to town. Access/Host: very easy access, straight in via well communicated lockbox process. Met our lovely host upon arrival and welcomed. Other than that we had complete privacy and peace, happy in the knowledge our host was just a call or text away. The Sanctuary: very spacious with everything we wanted and so much more: everything you would have in your own home (minus the junk🤣) 8 seat table, couches, games, books, sky tv on big flat-screen. 2 very comfy big beds, top quality linen and towels. Big modern bathroom, great shower pressure. HT rail. Big fridge, nespresso machine with pods, etc etc etc.... Marmite and vegemite even ! Definitely in my saved list for future visits.

Lovely hosts, who were very welcoming to their immaculate, warm and comfortable home. Set on a quiet cul-de-sac only 12/15 minutes walk away from town, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, including the continental breakfast with a choice of fruits, breads and jams.

Spacious room with amazing bathroom with double shower. Comfortable bed and breakfast was provided. Has easy access to Virginia Park although on this occasion we didn’t have time to explore. Lovely host who was very amenable. Easy drive into town.

In all the years I have traveled around NZ, it was the first place that felt like home. It had a family feel about it, and I absolutely loved staying there. Debbie is a great host 👌
