La casa de Melgar Rooms are divided by beautiful little courtyards full of flowers and trees. The staff are welcoming and friendly and very helpful, in particular Lydia, who speaks good English, and organised an early check-in for our morning arrival on the Cruz Del Sur bus. She also booked a taxi for our departure, which was far better than dealing with uber. There are a number of laundries just nearby which is very convenient when you are travelling around a lot. This hotel is a very tranquil place to stay in a big busy city. We had two very good night’s sleep owing to the peace and quiet. Our room was enormous 22 feet by 16 feet with a fine arched brick ceiling 12 to 15 feet high. The extremely comfortable double bed measured a huge 7 foot by 7 foot with four - nice! Everywhere in this hotel is filled with old world character and charm. From the 11 foot high double French doors with shutters to the thoughtful provision of a wardrobe, bedside tables, 2 sofas, a desk and a rack to put your baggage on. The solid thick stone walls are cool by day in the summer and warm at night. However, the 18th century styling does not in any way compromise the modern facilities. Wi-Fi is strong and consistent. There are electrical sockets all around the room for charging phones. The rooms are well lit. The large en-suite bathroom has a strong shower over a bath with lots of hot water. A hairdryer, clean fresh towels and soft loo roll are all provided free of charge and the room is impeccably clean at all times.

The bed was soooo comfortable that was even hard to leave in the morning! Seriously, it was the best bed I’ve slept so far!! Everything was very clean, very helpful to have the little kitchen available for use as well. Staff were amazing, made us feel very welcome and incredibly helpful. Tania helped us with tours, made suggestions in the region and made herself available on WhatsApp every time we needed.

Cozy little hotel in a perfect location (right next to the Santa Catalina Monastery, make sure to visit). I chose a room on the street side because it was brighter and the noise wasn’t too bad with the windows closed. The rooftop terrace overlooking the city had plenty of tables and good WiFi, it was a lovely spot to get some work done.

Everything! All the properties I stayed in Latin America are old so that is no issue to me. I like the vintagy style. I had a huge room, nice bathroom and on the ground floor. It has a nice inner yard and an adorable kitty greeted me at the door! The owner and his family is super friendly and I met some nice people too. The location awas great and I believe it was a great value for money. I would definately go back given the chance!

I stayed at this place in my first visit to Arequipa two years ago and this time I revisited Arequipa and chose to stay here. The new fully equipped kitchen was put in place for use with new big fridge. we stayed here for four nights during our visit this time. And the host is helpful and when I tried to book my bus ticket to next destination, and he helped us to pay ticket with his bank transfer which is only available to locals.
