I even got lucky and hitched a ride back to Nakatsugawa, with a perfect pitstop at Hillbilly Coffee (highly recommend). I stayed here after walking Nakasendo Trail from Tsumago. Perfect place to stay after. Do not hesitate. Go here. Book!

The property has sea and mountain views, and is 33 km from Shuzen-ji Temple. The guest house features family rooms. This was an incredible stay!! The host was incredibly friendly and really made us feel so welcome. The onsen was so lovely and the property has an incredible view. It is on the hill so if you don’t want to walk or don’t have a car be aware it’s a bit of a climb but it’s worth it for the view! The duvets and beds were really comfortable, AC was great and the place was absolutely spotless, very clean. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone and would love to stay here again!

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. Please pay in cash or by card upon check-in. Guests under 12 years old are exempt from the lodging tax. Spacious! Which is hard to find for dormitories. And exceptionally clean. Really appreciated the quiet ambience and comfortable lounge, with complimentary tea and drip coffee. Lots of manga and books to browse through, along with a thorough sightseeing and food map. Also a very cute variety of Ghibli decorations and memorabilia in the lounge area. Location is close to Takayama Eki but in the snow it was a bit hard to go to and from with a wheel suitcase. Any other weather and it is completely walkable.

We loved the fact that they had bikes at our disposal, and some breakfast!

The beds were also some of the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced at an accommodation.
