The guest house features family rooms. The owner was very welcoming and responsive, which I truly appreciated. The room itself was lovely, with private shower and toilet. There’s also a kitchen available for guests. And I also enjoyed the pleasant incense on the first floor :)

She thought of every little detail and took care of it, and it makes the room and common spaces feel truly like a home. There is everything you need here, even things you didn't know you needed. The location is also a highlight, in the middle of Gion, walking distance from beautiful temples and the river bank. If you never slept in a japanese style room before this is the best introduction you could hope for, and if you have this is truly a rare find. Grateful to have the chance to stay here for a few nights.

Featuring a garden and views of garden, Azukiya is a recently renovated guest house located in Kyoto, 700 metres from Shoren-in Temple. A hot tub and a bicycle rental service are available for guests. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen, full-day security and currency exchange for guests. Our quick two day trip to Kyoto was excellent and it was made perfect with our stay at Azukiya. When planning this last minute trip I was surprised that this B&B was available. The pictures and description on the site was exactly what we got. It was just PERFECT and gave us the Japanese experience. Our host was the sweetest and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. There are add-ons if you stay like bike rentals and breakfast but we didn't take advantage of it but we could smell her cooking every morning and it smelled AWESOME. We wish we would have taken advantage of that. The location was perfect for us. It was far enough away from the city center for us and in walking distance to the places we wanted to visit. It was also very close to the subway that we used to start our trek back home. All in all, this place was everything we expected and even more. We hope to visit again in the near future.

I am so glad I decided for this accommodation in Kyoto! The room was comfortable and well equipped. The neighborhood is quiet yet well connected (buses and train lines). What made the real difference, though, were the hosts Haruka and Takeda that have a genuine interest in ensuring all is well, provide useful information about the city and make you really feel at home! Takeda even drove me to the station as I had so much luggage! And Haruka is such a nice person! I recommend Haruka’s house with no hesitation and hope to be back soon again :-)
