It’s a self-contained 1-room apartment, complete with kitchen and shower-room. All modern. Beautiful clean tatami floor and comfortable futons. Amazingly, as an extra welcome, the kitchen is stocked with a selection of local drinks (including Wakayama-produced saké). The owner met us on arrival, explained everything clearly. All in all, if i come back to Shingu i will definitely want to stay here again.

Very clean and fairly new/well maintained accomodation. I have been to several shared bath accomodations and some have the weirdest setup that don't make sense. This place just does it. Bed is comfy and pillow has just the right height. There's proper hangers in the shower room, bins at the right spots, everything just makes sense so you'll be feeling like staying in a home instead of a hostel. Friendly and very helpful staffs to ease you through your stay and travel around the area.

This is a complete house to rent having 2 rooms including all original interior. This really feels like the real life in Japan, the smell of tatami..... The hosts are a special story: friendly and caretaking as one can tell! Picking you up at the station and giving you all kinds of hints and recommendations. The house is not far from the sea so you can walk there for a bath. Walking to the two bind stones along the coast takes you 30min.

Very strategic location and very convenient. The host, Jun-San and his wife are very warm and helpful.

The units are equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a fridge, a kettle, a bath, a hair dryer and a dressing room. Featuring a shared bathroom with a shower and free toiletries, certain units at the homestay also provide guests with a terrace. At the homestay, all units are fitted with bed linen and towels. The host was super sweet. She will make sure you make the best of your time in Gifu. I didn’t have much of an itinerary so she voluntarily made dinner and brought me to a mountaintop onsen. She will fuss over you like a mom would. I had a mosquito bite and she was so stressed! Her home was also very clean and comfortable. She made a wonderful breakfast for me before I left. This stay was one of the best memories of Japan and I hope to stay here again. Oh and she is very easy to contact with. She speaks minimal English but is very efficient over electronic communications. She also offers to drive you from to and from the station. I really can’t say enough good things!
