Really underrated - and cheap for what it is. People were really nice, it was clean and new, you have your own privacy if you want it and social spaces are very great. +1 for the guitar!

One of the best hostels I've stayed in Centroamérica. Not only do dorms have a bathroom but also every bed has curtains, lights, a little fan and a socket! Ana is always willing to help and give you good advice about places and how to get there. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped and the common area has games and a ping-pong table, apart from some cute little lizards strolling around the garden. Great hostel!

Great place! Incredibly kind host and volunteers, will go out of their way to help you and generally there's a cozy home-like atmosphere. The place is quite new, so super tidy and neat, with a very well equipped kitchen! Got great recommendations for acitivities and had an overall wonderful stay. Can recommend!!

The vibe are wonderful and the staff and owners are super friendly!! It felt like I was part of a family. Great rooms, beds have curtains which makes it feel private, lockers available. The hostel organises loads of tours, so you have it all planned very easily with no stress. I would definitely stay there again. I'd even consider to return to volunteer there!

Amazing social hostel with beautiful common area. There are also tables with sockets for when you want to work. The beds have curtains so you are not too bothered when you want to sleep and others are awake, as well as sockets. Wonderful garden with free gym. Also free coffee in the morning. Whatsapp group that helps socialize and plan trips together. The location is not in the city center, but remember you'll likely use car or Uber to move around, so it doesn't really matter. There still is a grocery store and a couple of restaurants in the area. The center is just 10 minutes walking distance.

We had an absolutely amazing time at Blackout Hostel. Most notably, the location and the staff/people. Just a couple minutes walk to the city center with nice restaurants, bakeries, and shops. Also about 10-15 minutes walk to this spectacular waterfall where everyone goes to jump off the rocks and swing from the Tarzan rope. Tony, the owner, was so kind and welcoming. We spent every night chatting in the main room with the other guests and even went out all together at the club next door. If you're looking for a fun time focused on experiences, this is the place to be.

The receptionists were very nice and helpful. We needed to find a way to get to Tamarindo very last minute and they helped us find it even though it was late. Also great vibes, nice pool, and beautiful rooms with AC. Also they helped us book tours in La Fortuna which were very enjoyable.

The staff were incredible & so friendly(special shout out to Chris, jenree, Louis & Jenny) Chris has a great team working for him. Location was amazing and very helpful in organising tours(the rafting company they used for the balsa river was one of the best tour operators we had on our travels through Central America)
