Great location - less than a 5 minute walk from Nara station and within walking distance of the other main attractions! Hilo was an amazing host! Marked out the attractions on a map and gave me recommendations. ¥600 in total for the washing machine and dryer. Free tea and coffee too. Nice little kitchen area. I speak very little japanese, but Hilo has a translator device to help communicate with each other. I definitely recommend staying here!

A wonderful wonderful guest house. The female dorm was really clean and beautiful, and great value for money. The staff were so kind at check-in and also breakfast time/check out. I really want to go back soon. A really great surprise was the breakfast: it was freshly cooked and such good value for money! I really recommend! It was a great way to start my day before visiting Nara Park and hiking around the Primeval Forest.

There is put a lot of effort and personality in this place. Everything is taken into consideration and built by the host which adds to a cosy homely feeling. There is a common space and kitchen to socialize with other travelers. The neighbourhood is quiet but interesting. A lot of different Asian kitchens around the corner.

My stay was great! The room has its own fridge, water dispenser (hot and cold), foldable table, mugs, coffee, tea, lockers (for your valuables), towels, trash bins, hair dryer and heater.. Kenji was real helpful and everything was kept orderly and clean :) he has a washing machine (u have to pay 200 yen for the washer and 100 for the dryer, there were soap pods available to use). Hot and cold showers were working fine too! I did not expect to have the room all to myself, the 3 bunks were unoccupied 🥹 the location was just a few min walk from Uji River, so there were harmless insects but nothing to worry about. Its walking distance from everything Uji Matcha as well 💚 i enjoyed my stay here so much :)

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed. The cozy and homey feel is just on-point. The pods are spacious and comfy. The dorms are also spacious and quiet. The fact the space used to be an onsen adds an extra charm to the facilities. Super cool! The staff is nice, but Red is exceptional. He's a super nice and friendly guy who keeps the place orgazined and tidy (If not the only one who does so). His playlist is also awesome, building a great vibe for guests :) What's more, the location is convenient, the shower rooms are nice, the kitchen is really good, and it’s a great value for money. Highly recommend.

Just 200 metres from Nara Park, Nara Backpackers offers affordable accommodation with free Wi-Fi. The traditional, 100 year-old house includes a modern free-use kitchen with microwave.
