We wanted a place close to the center but not on one of the islands, as the ferry/shuttle situation can get tricky depending on the time of day. That’s how we found this accommodation, and it was perfect! Even from the booking photos, I was drawn to its cute and thoughtful design—and I can confirm it looks just as lovely in real life. The place was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had such a welcoming vibe.
The location is fantastic, nestled in a Nubian village with friendly neighbors where we always felt safe. It’s an easy walk to the public ferry for Elephantine Island, just five minutes from Carrefour, and super convenient for catching a public minibus (only 5 EGP!), tuk-tuk, or taxi. Best of all, it’s right next to the Nile—just a few steps away—where you can take a refreshing dip on hot days or enjoy stunning sunsets with feluccas sailing by.
The real highlight, though, was the owner, Nia. She was incredibly helpful, always available to answer our many questions—how to get around, which ferry or bus to take, where to find the nearest shop, and even how to travel to other cities. Honestly, we would have been completely lost without her guidance in this lively, fast-paced city! She also helped us book a tour to Abu Simbel at a great price and made everything so easy.
I highly recommend this stay!

David hostel has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Aswan. Boasting room service, this property also provides guests with a barbecue. The accommodation features a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. I think this is the best Hostel to stay in Aswan. Very cheap and you get a nice, clean and spacious room. David and his family were very friendly and helpful. David helped me organized everything; Abu simbel & city tour, transportation to Luxor and tour in Luxor which are really appreciated. The hostel is very safe because there's a locked frontdoor, only person inside can open it. Plus, there're some shop nearby. Such as grocery store, which has a friendly owner and restaurants not far from the hostel. The location is a bit far from the city centre but not a dealbreaker. Breakfast was also very nice. You will get a packed one when you have to do a tour very early in the morning. Highly recommened for a solo traveler!

They have a menu and they can make special requests too, like vegetarian food in my case. The owner was very helpful and assisted organising a last minute boat trip on the Nile to the Nubian Village - which I highly recommend. I've done it with a motorboat, and it was magical. I wish I could have spent more days here.

The property is around 12 km from Aswan High Dam, 12 km from Kitchener's Island and 11 km from Unfinished Obelisk. Tombs of the Nobles is 20 km from the hostel. We had an amazing time staying at Chams House! My family (3 people) and I stayed for 3 nights. They greeted us with a fruit basket and lemon mint juice, which was such a thoughtful surprise! The house was super clean, spacious, and very comfortable, and the family made us feel at home the entire time. Since we had a lot of luggage, they arranged a microbus to pick us up from the train station, which made things much easier. At first, we were a bit unsure about the location, but the family helped us plan a great program for the 3 days, taking care of every little detail. A big delicious breakfast was waiting for us every morning. We also asked for a homemade traditional dinner, and they cooked an amazing meal for us. The family was so friendly and kind—we had wonderful conversations with them, and they were some of the nicest and most humble people we met in Egypt. They even called the bus station to help us with an issue we had with our bus to Hurghada. The wifi was surprisingly great, I was able to work the whole time freely. But the highlight for us was how authentic and local the whole experience felt. It was so different from anything else we saw in Egypt, and being immersed in the Nubian culture was unforgettable. The islands were beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the Nubian massage my mom, aunt, and I got in the guest house was amazing! They even let us check out late, since our next bus was untill 3pm. We absolutely loved our time at Chams House and would recommend it to everyone. Don’t think twice— I'm sure you’ll love it as much as we did! Thank you to Mr Chams, Mrs Bertuda, Khetamy and the cutest little Anas, you all made us feel at home.

On the banks of the river Nile Every single moment was valuable at this property like a wonderland of simplicity and beauty. Nothing could be a relief for soul like it was. Waking up every single day to see such a sun rise pallet could completely suffice, but limitless joy and kindness of warmhearted hostesses take it much further to become an implicit pleasure and connection.
Thanks for “Rehab” the mayor😁 a name which means in English “the open arms welcoming person”, she truly was in all aspects.
This is the nicest place I have been in Egypt. Mango hostel is a very beautiful hotel, with colors everywhere and plants. It’s not in the city but in the island just in front (5 min by public boat, very easy) so it’s quiet and chill. The room was comfortable and all clean. What was the best, is the staff. They are all very kind, and make sure you feel good and safe. They also arrange you tour if you need. A little heaven.
Property is in a quiet area of Aswan, away from the noisy city. Crossing the street it has an exclusive area to swim into the Nile river or do some kayaking, which are rented for a cheap price. They also offer water and soft drinks and a small breakfast included. You can easily spend many days relaxing in the hostel, without even leaving to do attractions.
Lovely friendly hostel, very pretty place and super safe area. Colourfully decorated, homely.
David hostel can provide all options for Aswan Abu Simbel and Luxor with reasonable price. Sleeping in the hostel is recommended to backpackers. Free laundry service was great.
Great hostel! Great location and stuff.
One of the best hostels I've been staying at. Gandhi is really kind and will help you to organise your trip. The view from the rooftop is simply breathtaking and you can rent a kayak to enjoy the Nile in a peaceful way There is also a great common area where you can meet other travelers. Thank you for everything 🙏
We were very impressed by the humility and the genuine service of the Nubian hosts. Mostapha, the owner of the building where the hostel is located, took us for a beautiful tour of the nile around Aswan in which we watched rare birds at the nearby protectorate, swam at bank of the river in a beautiful and crystal clean location, and finally, visited the lovely nubian village (gharb suheil). The breakfast was satisfactory, the room was spacious, and the private bathroom, located outside the room was workable. Great budget choice!
I had a comfortable and safe stay here. David organized for me a trip to Abu Simbel at a unbeatable price which was scheduled to leave from the hostel at 4.30 am. He even knocked at my door to make sure I will not miss it. Thank you, David!
everything was good, gandi was an amazing men and mostly his son, the building is clean, really good backpacker vibe, and u have the Nile front of the hostel for swimming !!
