A perfect couple’s or solo traveller's getaway, el nido (the nest) is tucked into one of Wakefield’s original buildings dating back to 1910. Featuring exposed brick touches, a small but well-appointed kitchen, a heat pump for cool summer days and cozy winter stays, an extensive wrap-around porch, and a king-sized bed, el nido provides a great boho-chic space in which to relax and experience Wakefield’s unique offerings. The loft is on is two levels, so people staying will need to be able to navigate stairs. We run state of the art HEPA filters, use unscented cleaning products and soaps, and provide anti-bacterial bed linens with a comfortable, king-sized ENDY mattress. We have wifi but do not provide television – our hope is you will immerse yourself in everything Wakefield has to offer outdoors!
There is something for every season and time of day in this “live and let live” town. In the morning, grab some freshly baked goods at one of Wakefield’s renowned bakeries, and a coffee from the local roaster across the street. In the summer, stroll two minutes to the river for a morning swim at the dock. Or rent a canoe, paddleboard or kayak for the day from Expeditions Wakefield, just a stone’s throw away. Explore the majestic gatineau hills hiking, biking, and in the winter, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing these world-class trails. You can literally walk to them from the front door! From summer to autumn, visit the Saturday farmer’s market located just across the street to procure local organic goods, crafts, and listen to live music. Fall brings a spectacular vibrant show of red, yellow and orange leaves, not to be missed.
When evening rolls around, enjoy a 5 á 7 at the corner pub, or sip some wine on the porch. Then walk to one of Wakefield’s top-notch restaurants for a sumptuous dinner. You can also buy exquisite takeout meals or make your own, and enjoy a romantic evening at the nest! For a special treat, book a spa and massage at the renowned Nordik spa, minutes away!
