「I had the most wonderful stay at Ktima 1937 Kannides in Drouseia, Cyprus. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the peaceful surroundings to the beautifully kept property. A special thank you to Mrs. Militsa, the hostess, who made us feel so...」
KTIMA 1937 Kannides is a traditional house that has been tastefully renovated(2013) and converted into a complex of five cosy apartments in Droushia Village, Paphos District. It is situated on a hill with an excellent climate and 10 minutes drive from the nicest beaches in Cyprus.
The house had eleven rooms which have been renovated and transformed into five apartments. The property was originally used for family farming, mainly chickens, rabbits and pigeons. The stone built pigeon house has been reconstructed and can be seen on the property today.
The original house was built by Spyros Kannides and his wife Marikka Kannides in the late 1920's. It was passed on to one of their sons Savvas Rikkos Kannides (born in 1937) and finally to their grand children.
Akamas peninsula is rich in flora and fauna. The area is unaffected by development and it is a home for many migrating birds and a nesting place for sea turtles. Legend says that after swimming in the crystal clear waters of Akamas bay Aphrodite walked up the hill to bathe in a small pool fed with fresh mountain spring water. This special place has become known as the Baths of Aphrodite.
Ancient churches of Saint George Nikoxilides, Osia Maria and Saint Kononas are just some of more than 100 ancient churches in the area.
Droushia Rocks are the most popular climbing destinations in Cyprus.
Polis is a seaside town 10 min drive from Droushia. Its fishing port Latchi is famous for good fish restaurants.
Cruises to Akamas and its breathtaking turquoise blue waters are available from Latchi.
