Its central location between the well-known Harz towns of Wernigerode, Halberstadt, Quedlinburg, Thale, Hasselfelde, Rübeland and Braunlage, directly on the Romanesque Road, makes it an ideal starting point for exploring the Harz. Blankenburg itself with its baroque castle and gardens, the historic old town, the stately villas, the parks, the two castles, the Regenstein castle ruins, the Cistercian monastery of Michaelstein, the Ziegenkopf, the Teufelsmauer with the Grandfather Rock, the Teufelsbad spa clinic, the mill hiking trail, the climbing park and the bio leisure pool offers numerous destinations that want to be discovered and explored. Blankenburg's surroundings offer an extensive network of hiking trails. Hiking enthusiasts particularly enjoy planning tours via the destinations in the Harzer Wandernadel programme.
