You have to look back quite far in the chronicles of Reisach to discover the ‘beginnings’ of today's traditional Waller inn. The establishment of the inn is closely linked to the history of the nearby Carmelite monastery in Reisach and dates back to the mid-18th century. The founder of the inn was Johann Georg von Messerer, an enterprising brewer's son from Bad Aibling, who came to wealth and title, and his wife Maria Klara Kern, who also made history here as founders of the monastery. As the son of a brewer, it was probably almost a matter of course that an inn and a farm were included in the plans when the monastery and church were built. And at that time, an inn was almost a small community in its own right. All the work had to be done by hand and many hands were needed. The venerable walls of the monastery and the inn in Reisach have now been standing for over 270 years and if walls could tell stories, there would certainly be countless ‘inn stories’
