Neighbourhood information

Based in Lybster, 20 minutes south of Wick and on the East Coast of the NC500 we are ideally located for exploring the stunning scenery, sights and attractions based here in Caithness. Lybster itself boasts a spectacular harbour, mainly used today for crab fishing but historically it was one of Scotland’s bigger herring ports. If you take the take the time to visit you may recognise it from season 4 of the hit drama ‘The Crown’. Overlooking the harbour, you will find Swiney Hill and a great viewpoint for spotting whales, dolphins, porpoise, seals, and a huge array of seabirds. The village is home to one of (if not the) shortest golf course in Scotland and also has a local shop, café, post office and craft studio. Not to forget being home to Northlands Creative Glass an international centre of excellence in glassmaking. We are also well situated for visiting local sights including; the Whaligoe Steps, Camster Cairns, Hill o’ many stanes, Achavanich standing stones, Rumster forest, Dunbeath Straith, The John O’Groats trail, Yarrows Archaeological trail, Sarclet bay, Old Pulteney distillery, Castle Sinclair, Latheronwheel fairy walk and Reiss/Keiss beach. Just to name a few.
