This Lantern and Larks site, Exton Park, is nestled in a walled garden of a rural estate in beautiful Rutland. These luxury safari tents are ideal for anyone looking for a few days of rest and relaxation glamping in the great outdoors. With hot running water, a cosy wood burning stove and wooden furniture, they’re a perfect combination of comfort and adventure. We have six tents on site, so group bookings are welcome.

Rutland may be the smallest historic county in England, but it certainly fits a lot in! Within easy reach of Stamford, Leicester, Peterborough and Nottingham, Exton Park is made up of 500 acres and has existed since the 12th century. As well as acres of parkland and miles of footpaths, it has a beautiful walled garden, which is where you’ll find this picture-perfect glamping site. Don’t miss a stroll over to Fort Henry, a magical gothic folly sitting beside a large lake covered with water lilies.
Should you fancy a night away from the firepit during your holiday, you’ll find no shortage of pubs and restaurants within easy reach of your Lantern & Larks site including Admiral Hornblower, Wheatsheaf, The Larder and Orbis.
Less than three miles from Exton Park, guests can visit the famous Rutland Water. One of the largest artificial lakes in Europe, it’s a famous nature reserve which is home to over 25,000 waterfowl – perfect for birdwatchers! Rutland water sports centre is located on the shore at Whitwell and offers sailing, canoeing, kayaking, power boating and windsurfing for different ages and abilities as well as children's activity days. The centre has a shop stocked with clothing, accessories and equipment and also offers equipment hire and tuition for those who want it. There’s also over 25 miles of cycle and footpaths and plenty of activities and sports on offer for the more adventurous visitors. There is also an Aqua Park which is the UK's Biggest. Alternatively, visit the beautiful Barnsdale Gardens, or catch a show at Tolethorpe Hall.
The Reservoir has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is a globally important wetland RAMSAR site. In the welcome centre a 'Weather and Wildlife' exhibition is accompanied by the live camera feed (in season) of the osprey nests that are part of the Rutland Osprey Project.
